I heard that it was supposed to be a powerful hallucination caused by the fact that Leon was infected from the beginning, so it isn't supernatural, it's literally Leon just seeing things, but because its from the virus inside him its a manifestation of his body trying to fight the infection. Or this virus is deliberately making him see these things and he's trying to fight back against them so he doesn't go mad. I really wish they'd kept these enemies

The third one was probably the most like the other games in the series.

The fourth one is the one actually released.

From 1999 to 2005, this team made 4 games that were all supposed to be the same one, that's fucking dedication right there.
