Canadian men and women should just stop buying all electrical devices that we would use for copying any material such as computers dvd recorders tape recorders, or any photo copy machines of any kind yes even mp3 players or ipods. hit the government in their pockets. purchasing any of these products we pay taxes on, and yet we will not be able to use them freely if bill c61 passes. will we be charged 500 dollars for singing, whistling, humming our favorite song?
yeah, boycottt what you can. if acta passes, look up acta on wikipedia, there will be border checks on your ipods, laptops, and keychains for copyright-infringing files. if you must purchase electronics, wait until after the legislation is voted on this july, 2008.
a drop in sales would let the legislators know what they can look forward to if they further criminalise the everyday use of electronics.
The sad part is the fact most of the people this legistlation would have effected probably had no idea it could have been implemented.
That said, this was an interesting interview, thanks for posting. I don't like the way the hour is set up - to many "celeb" guests - but this was decent.
wow, how stupid of me. public space like the town square has nothing on privately controlled (and monitored, and marketed) entities like a group on facebook.
"freaked out", "strong sense that it will look like the united states", "big consequences, negative consequences, even consequences that work against free speech"..all of that within the first 30 seconds of the interview
NDP=Change. Vote NDP for a better Canada.

Yet the YouTube user bcconservative (Ryan Warawa) has no problem adding videos to his play lists that violate copyright.

A vote for Harper is a vote for Bush and the US Republican party.
Vote ABC - anything but conservative.

I find his interviews are too short to really get in any detail with the interviewee. Especially this one.

"social action and facebook and myspace". what an oxymoron if i've ever seen one....

geist himself said a couple of seconds after that that "in a matter of weeks there were thousands of letters going to the minister of industry..."
so facebook clearly does nothing, right phobal?

such strong words for speculation:
