Another cool thing to do using this technique is taking a small vocal sample, throwing it into Sampler, throwing the Vocoder on the Sampler and routing the in to your synth. Set the scale on Sampler to 0% (default 100%) and you can play it like a synth. Make sure your volume is also turned up from -12db to 0db. Using things like trance pads in the Sampler instead of vocal samples can be cool for this too if you play around with it.
