I support the VFW and if they endorse John McCain then that is Big wood on the fires of Freedom... The VFW is made up of some of the finest individuals our country has ever had, men whose opinions count because they have been earned at a high price... I fully support Veterans being able to obtain health care at the Office and Location of their choice, travel and Gov't red tape should never be an issue, I believe the V.A. Hospital system has failed our Veterans due to its Socialized design...IMHO

Read the whole quote, and stop taking quotes out of context. He said it as a figure of speech and it was twisted by he media. He answered a question of "50 years" by saying "if it takes 100 years than that's how long it will take", it wasn't a promise, it was a declaration that the war should be completed so that the Iraqis don't get left out. It's actually more humanistic approach then just deserting the country for more violence.

If you read Vietnam history and the war in Vietnam, you'd know that American Marines were winning by 1969 but because of footage and media bringing the realities of war into our TVs, people protested, and the political pressure forced America to retreat. Sure the Vietnam war was also started for the wrong reasons, but trust me, it was a worse reason than starting the Iraq War.

The recruitment of Al Qaeda is booming because of the Iraq War, because American troops are in the Middle East, but once you quit the war in Iraq, then you will simply give potential recruits hope that America can be defeated. American soldiers may be harming civilians, but that would happen with any nation. You don't think American soldiers killed civilians in WWII--of course they did. It wasn't justified then OR now. The War is not beneficial for America, but it is for the world and the future

Today, people around the world are angry with the United States for starting a war based on oil under the cover of "war on terror". However, if we were to leave the war we would be hated even more for starting something and not finishing it. The next time, that war will come home. Perhaps not in Washington DC but perhaps it will simply come closer to the West, like London, or Berlin. I hate the Iraq war as much as ANY sensible person. But you cannot just withdraw immediately, you have to finish what you started. People around the world hate America because of starting the war, but to leave the war midway through, is worse! Imagine Americans giving up World War II half-way because the Nazi regime is too hard.
