Sigh, if you did some homework before just buying one you may have found out some things that might be helpful, but here we go. There are new versions of the 360 known as the jasper model, it has revised heatsinks which stops it from RROD. The elite had a change over the standard ones at the time which was some glue to do with the GPU, but still can get RROD's.

Jasper can RROD too you know. It's just less likely. Some people buy elites, take them out of the box brand new and insta-RROD lol. It's luck of the draw my friend =(

Yeah, thankfully I got the Jasper, and i can happily say that even after 8 hours of play, it's still cool to the touch. I DID buy one of the new intercoolers, & I see your point about it blocking the air. The way I see it though is if the new intercooler DOESN'T work i'd think I would have seen more shit about it online, especially since there's a hell of a lot more people runnin their Xbox's like 24 hours a day every day...

I barely use mine at all.

@wiihome EXACTLY. I picked up a 360 from a friend which had a kit that rerouted energy from the drive to the fan to make it run full speed. This shit is dumb. If the cpu gets too hot, the fan will speed up to max if needed. If that's not enough, making it run full speed won't help, it will still overheat.

i dont see why you'd do this to an xbox... see honesly all you got to do is get a talismoon fan and put it in. i think mine was like 20 bucks its quiet and you dont even need to turn on the fan boost thing. otherwise just buy it from walmart and every 90 days take it in and say it got the red light and get a new one. the first one just keep the hard drive. :D thats what i did 3 times and then i got the new fan.
