  • I hate 1/72 scale.

  • @Greenhornet270 I don't.. :)

  • Brilliant - I have built this kit myself but I kindly gave it to a relative but I am hoping to bring it back to do a video a bit like this as it is already built, painted and decalled by me :) As you said, the kit may have been round for a while but it is still a classic little gem in my opinion... :) :) Great! :)

  • @2002And Yes, it's a nice quite accurate kit.. not much cockpit detail but you wouldn't see that in the finished model anyway, especially if you use the pilot and gunner provided.. :)

  • لطيف! ويمكن أن تخبرني اسم هذه الاغنية؟ :)

nice! and could you please tell me the name of this song? :)

прыемна! і не маглі б вы сказаць мне назва гэтай песні? :)

leuk! en kon u mij vertellen de naam van dit nummer? :)

    अच्छा! और आप मुझे इस गीत का नाम बता सकता है? :)

'n glws! Gallai a wnewch chi ddweud wrthyf enw'r gân hon? :)

    และคุณจะกรุณาบอกชื่อของเพลงนี้ได้หรือไม่ :)

  • @Neptunekid I can't remember the name of the song, sorry... :) But you'll find it at the Incompetech website.. :)

  • I've built this model - love this plane because of it's wing shape and design. Looks like a bird in the sky! :)

  • @2002And It is a beautiful plane, yes.. :)

  • Awesome finish:) I just have a question.. what difference do flash make?:)

  • @Usdownz Well, if its in the wrong place and not removed, the parts won't fit together.. That is the main problem.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Okay thanks:)

  • @drmagricola Thank you.. :)

  • LOL, your video is even more exciting then the video below in the telegraph, "watching grass grow" :P

Congrates to your honor, I was with my first video on youtube in a great dutch online-community as an abnormal coot.

  • @trainfart Well, bad PR is better than no PR at all, as they say.. :)

  • Your Lysander video is not boring at all! The journalist lied - I am shocked. :D

  • just subbed! Have you any tips for applying the Airfix decals? I have the GR3 Harrier and i screwed up some of them. help!?!?!?

  • @eenproductions The trouble is.. Airfix has got at least three dufferent types of decals.. the old ones, which are generally easy to use, but often out of register.. a newer range, which are in good register, but very thin and difficult to use.. and their latest decal sheets, which are really quite good.. :) I think the GR3 is an old kit, so you can have anyone of the types, depending on the boxing.. Is it the new style red box?? :)

  • @BasicModelling well its red! they are quite thin and break soooo easily. thanks for being patient with me!

  • @eenproductions Whewn it comes to models my patience is (almost) endless.. :) Sounds like you may have the earlier style decals, perhaps, as they are both thin and easily torn.. You should really e-mail or write to Airfix and ask for a new sheet, if possible.. sadly I have none in my spares.. :P

  • @BasicModelling already put them on! however, i do have the supermarine walrus mk2 1:72 with the ones i think you mean. might try for some new ones of them. i didnt have the paint for it, so i gave i camo ^_^

  • Is the one of the most boring videos on You Tube? For modellers it's nothing boring.

  • @Virlando2 True.. but I guess whoeveritwas that did the article isn't a modeller.. :)

  • A very nice model of the historic Westland Lysander. Remember too all of you modelers the brave men who flew these aircraft into Germqn occupied Europe at night, without GPS or sophisticated navigation aids. They flew , as they used to say, "by dead reckoning and moonlight" Many never returned to base.

  • @BerlinBunker1 I always send a thought to the crew or the individual pilot of the planes that I build.. and a spare thought for the ground crew that maintained it as well.. :)

  • I didnt think that the Lysander from Airfix was still going, i thought she was discontinued like all the other great kits that they produced, but im wrong :O

  • @Ezza190 It's still available, but I would expect them to rebox it soon anyway, in the new style boxes, and maybe with some different decals.. If and when they do I will buy at least one more kit.. :)

  • not boring, I like the spy :)

  • @DistractionCascade So do I.. but when I get round to building this kit, it will most likley be a Finnish version.. without the spy!! :)

  • very cool !!

    ★★★★★5

  • @himesworld Thank you very very much.. :)

  • You can still get hold of old FROG Lysanders too. I've spotted a few at various model shows over the years. The FROG Lysander is not bad either.

  • I like the FROG kits, they need a bit of care and attention.. :)

  • Not boring at all.

I built the Airfix Lysander a few months ago. It's not too bad but the wing dihedral is too flat. The Matchbox/Revell Lysander is an overall better kit.

This Airfix Lysander is the second version they produced (from the 1970s). They had an original kit from the early 1960s which had no cockpit interior - just a pair of heads moulded onto a "shelf".

  • Ah, yes.. the heads.. classic early Airfix, I almost feel a twinge of sadness everytime I have to remove an Airfix pilot head.. Just think, at one time that was the best of the best in model kits! I haven't seen the Revell / Matchbox Lysander, I think Revell did a very limited re-issue a couple of years ago and it sold out before I could get one..

  • To me the Airfix kit is good enough, I have built the RAF 'spy' version, but painted it in the wrong colours, the brown was too dark :(.. But I do have another kit which, just like the Blenheim, will be built in Finnish colours.

  • what does flash mean?

  • Flash is any excess plastic that has been left on the parts in the moulding process, because the moulds are getting old and plastic is leaking out.. It's easily removed with a knife or by sanding, in most cases.. but it adds extra work to the model, so flash free is always best.. :)

  • thanks

  • This video goes to prove any press coverage be it good or bad will boost a video to levels which no networking on youtube can achieve

    I love it.

  • I don't think it did much for my subs.. :) But I hoped to pass 700 before years end, and I hit the mark tonight.. Just hope nobody unsubs until January 1st now... :)

  • good job

  • Thank you.. :)

  • telegraph betches!

  • I don't mind.. it gave me several 1000 more views that I would have had otherwise.. free advertising is not a bad thing.. :)

  • molto realistico..complimenti

  • Grazie mille! :)

  • I've now bought one!

  • Excellent.. it's a good kit,, even if the cock-pit is basic.. just be careful when assembling the canopy and wings.. :)

  • not boring...wow it's pulled some views, well done

  • Soon passing 10.000.. nothing like what you get on your videos, but I'm happy! The viewings have died down again now though, the video has returned to its previous state of anonymity.. :)

  • I found this amazing how people would check out a negative news story, almost worth a video on the subject.

  • I like your quirky films! My GF loves the music too!

    Default Humans are soooooo boring!!!!!!

  • Ha ha ha ha ha.. :)

  • IT IS NOT BORING!!!!

  • I know.. :) But it is my most watched video now.. :) :)

  • because: telegraph don't like this video.

Come on telegraph, 3th division is too boring!!!!

  • I can't get the bloody music out of my head....

  • Jolly, isn't it?? :)

  • my models always looked shitty..

  • Mine used to.. now they just look bad!! :)

  • the view statistics are exploding;-))))

  • Yeah.. When I posted my last comment here, 7 hours ago, it was roughly 3500.. Now it's 4609!! o.o

  • yES, iT'S MU SECOND MOST VIEWED VIDEO NOW.. :) :)

  • Just passed 6000... :)

  • SMILE!!! :)

  • wtf ive seen hell alot more boring videos than this such as the

    homemade primary school education videos

  • I guess it's probably bosring to a non-modeller.. :)

  • Yeah probably, but there are definatly more boring videos than this, this is really helpfull & interesting, watching paint dry, or grass grow, is niether helpfull or interesting, how could this possibly be viewed as boring.

I think the daily telegraph need to do some more resaerch...

  • Definetely.. :)

  • i have the revell version of this i cant be bothered to make it or any other models to be honest its the mold version cost 4 quid in modelzone

  • I have been looking for the Revell version for a while.. it's the old Matchbox kit.. You can get a resin conversion set, and convert it into a 'Twin Lizzie', the set is designed especially for the Revell / Matchbox kit so won't work as well or at all, with the Airfix kit.. :)

  • This is sooooo boring.... HAHA!!! :)

  • I have just posted a video about my new internet fame... :) :)

  • lol... i just saw in the news on danish television this video has been nominated as the most boring video on youtube ever... don't know why... have you heard about this?

  • Really?? I wondered why the viewings had gone up?? Now, the most boring video ever is an honour I'm sure!! I'll look into it tomorrow.. I'm quite flattered, actually.. Mind you, I can think of a load of videos more boring than this one.. :)

  • It's also been linked in a page on the Telegraph UK website, as one of the most boring ever, but I disagree, was good to see the finished product :)

  • Ah...those wonderful days long ago, when there was only one television station, and Airfix kits, Mamod steam engines and the weekly Dandy and Beano kept us sane.....

  • Yes, those were the days.. well, no Beano or Dandy for me, as we didn't have them in Sweden, but I can agree with the rest.. :)

  • thanks for the video! i quite enjoyed it :) nice music. i like the spy, hes cool. keep up the model building friend!

  • I am very busy modelling.. :) :) Thank you.. :)

  • Hi! im from finland, but i didnt know this is used by finns??

  • Sure was, both the Mk.I and the Mk.IV's.. I think there's a Mk.IV preserved in a museum in Finland, somewhere.. I have just 'finnished' a MiG-15 UTI in Finnish colours, will make and post a video shortly.. I also have a video of a Finnish Vampire, and am in the middle of making a Finnish Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6.. post war version! I hope to get a small collection of Ilmavoimat aircraft in due time.. :)

  • thank you! in think i post here own models sometimes when i get something goods :D

  • Good or bad, I'd love to see them.. :)

  • the plane reminds me of a dragon fly

  • I think you're right.. :)

  • hi i got the westland lysander recentley its a great model and i have done it in a matt black and yellow

  • Sounds really nice.. you should post a video, I'd like to see it... :)

  • wat colours do u suggest to paint it in your opinion i might get it but on the box it is yellow but i like your version aswell

  • I'd do the 'Special Ops' version, if there is one with your kit.. :) That'll be dark green / dark earth over black... :) But there's so many attractive 'After Market' decal schemes out there.. just pick your choice.. :)

  • I'd buy it just for the spy!

  • Hoping to build a Finnish Lysander soon.. Got all I need, bar the time.. :)

  • I just noticed that the "spy" is not present :)

  • He has been dropped off at a secret location.. :)

  • a likely story...we'll get the truth out of you quick enough...Igor, we need your "touch" :)

  • It's a spy.. I can't tell you that he was dropped of in central Washington.. that would spoil the masterplan! :)

  • he was run down by a carriage switching railcar...

  • Bush has a railway in the Oval Room?? :)

  • Hannants have a set of Finnish Bombs in stock now.. shame I didn't know about them yesterday, it would have been a tempting buy.. :) But I only saw it in their weekly newsmail today.. :(

  • always knew that Hannants place was a center of intrigue against the Finnish gov't...:)

  • On the contrary.. :)

  • well, just a bit of paint change and decal change to finnish ww2 standards and voila! I have a pic from a finnish av magazine but only black and white...i put that pic up in one of my finnish airplane videos. probably you have the correct colour patterns...nice to see this because apparently I had missed it or it was before I boldly went where I had not tread before :)

  • I'm going to Hannants tomorrow, with my friend the ModelShop owner.. who also happens to be my neighbour.. :) I have placed an order with him for a set of decals for Finnish Lysanders, two of which will be on skis!! So as long as I can get the decals, I'll be able to do a correct version.. or two!! I'll mail you the picture of the decals, for you to enjoy! Don't know when I get round to building the model though, I have many projects planned.. :)

  • I thought I sent you a video of a round tuit :)

  • P'haps you did.. anyway, I have TWO more Lysander kits, so no need to redo the one I already have.. except that I may repaint it anyway, and redecal it, making it look a bit fresher, and better.. :) That'll be in the future sometime.. :0

  • I found this very amusing! i love this vid! I didnt like the mold though

  • That is fair enough! I think there's few other kits on the market in 1/72, apart from the recently re-issued Revell (ex Matchbox) kit, but that is sold out everywhere already! At least this kit is readily available in most stores still, if not at the main internet sources! And it builds a reasonably accurate model, in my opinion.. :) :)

  • Sometimes I wonder if Models you are into or just opening boxes to see what's inside... he he he

    *wink*

  • Somebody was curious about the kit, and asked me to show the contents of the box!! :) Inbox Reviews are very useful for modellers, trying to decide if they should buy a kit or not! There are several websites dedicated to both Inbox- and building reviews! I do mine on YouTube... :) :) I know this kit inside out, as it's another of my favourites.. but the modeller who asked me didn't, and hopefully he'll now know if he wants to build it.. or not! My next one will be Finnish.. with skis, I hope! :)

  • Dust! run out of cling-film or sandwich bags then :)

  • Stored on an open shelf.. but my best models are stored in boxes, or drawers!! Apart from a few that are on semi-permanent display down at the local model shop!! :) :)

  • gr8 thanks

  • Glad you liked it..

  • Great plane..

I loved the diorama of the finish plane..

  • Happy Glue Sniffers Day :)

  • Named after a Spartan General

  • Lysander the Great? :P

  • A-Lysander... Oh yes I get it ;)

  • Lysander the almost as great.

  • This is spaaaaaaaarttaaaaaaa!

  • Give or take 300. >:^)

  • Hahaha, Top Pun there ;P

  • I remember building this kit as a boy. It was the kit I took with me when me and my mum and dad went to Colwyn Bay for two weeks! I remember spilling my little bottle of turps on the hotel's glass-topped table which seeped through a crack in the glass to totally smudge-up the picture beneath it! Ah, those were the days!

  • Thinners is amazing stuff :D

  • Yes, it goes back a while, that kit.. :)

  • for some reason that reminds me of a kit my twin and I had - dogfight doubles which was 2 biplanes in one kit I think and we had a falling out over who was going to have the German one!

  • neat plane by the way

  • It's a very nice and accurate kit, apart from the fact you get no cock-pit interior.. but in my opinion that's not needed anyway, as you can't see much, if any, of it! Just paint the pilot and gunner well, and stick them in.. and that's all you need!! :)

  • They're still selling those kits.. The Spitfire Mk.IX vs the Bf110.. The Meteor vs. the V1 Doodlebug.. Classic Airfix, yet again.. :)

  • beautiful review... This is a plane I want to build :) Oh, by the way.. I'm starting building my Airfix Gloster Gladiator tomorrow!

  • Thank you! I'm hoping to pick up some decals for Finnish Lysanders on Friday.. One of which will be a winter camouflaged plane on skis! As it happens I have a pair of resin skis that may just fit.. :) Enjoy your Gladiator, are you planning to leave the pilots head in, or will you try and make a cock-pit?? :)

  • For sure I'll make my own cockpit... What we got there is just sad, litteraly... =)

  • Indeed.. but once upon a time it was top notch stuff.. :) Modelling has moved on, even if Airfix hasn't.. Then again, I love these old kits, as you can do as much or as little with them, as you please... :)

  • Very good!! im gonna see if i can find that and my GAZ-67B video is nearly done it should be up by this saturday

  • Yes, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Lysander.. :) Looking forward to seeing your GAZ-67B wne ready.. I'm yet to start mine, but will probably do it as a side project, once I've caught up with everything else.. :)
