  • shit, that looks like High....

  • :O that happens to me some times and sometimes it hurts really bad :O

  • that is what us rowers like to call crabs, at least it wasnt and ejector crab.

  • i think he will remember this race..lol

  • BOOM! Headshot

  • SNORE

  • Thats not funny thats really sore actually

  • i hate catching a crab.

  • Well that wasn't funny

  • "Stroke Stroke Stroke!"

    "Stop mocking me!"

  • Did this crab happen because of under squaring at the catch or over squaring on the recovery?

  • @rickhoran over squaring on the recovery, due to being tired

  • @rickhoran it looks like he brought his oar down during the middle of the recovery

  • @rdyohad14 meh. Looks more like he never got the oar off the water lol. That plus the utter amount of pain in the feathering fore-arm usually means a pretty shitty few strokes after the finish...

  • CRAAAAAAAB!

you owe everyone in the boat a peanut slab now :)

    thats what we do

  • THIS IS HELARIOUS EVEN THE COMMENTS OF PEOPLE MAKE IT SO GOD DAMN FUNNY

  • It's not funny! It fucking hurts like hell! At the end of my first regatta, the same thing happened, and I broke my nose!

  • Getting hit in the face with a oar hurts O_o.

  • he caught crabs

  • The...EJECTOR O.O

  • even if he didnt they would have still lost

  • youtube.com/watch?v=9RLXxgcG_gA

  • goddam crabs. i nearly broke my jaw on one

  • Ive never had one that violent, but I get them sometimes as I just plunk my oar down as soon as I can. I hate it when the coxswains make us warm down on the water....

  • shit he was like forced back - does it hurt?

  • aahhh poor guy, catching a crab is never fun! :) look at my rowing videos and tell me what you think... ;) (@my channel)

  • Whenever I catch a crab I try my hardest to never let it go over my head, I let it dig into my thigh and try to feather my blade and continue rowing.

  • Bless. It happens to the best of us!

  • effin craps >.<

  • I knew someone who had to go to the ER because of a crab she caught, it's NOT FUNNY.

  • This isn't really funny. The dude caught a crab and that is what happens. So what

  • I row in bow seat and did the exact same thing at my first regatta, lol we still won though

  • lol i love watching novice races and count how many crabs they catch :P sounds mean, but i remember catching a massive crab at a regatta and at the end we all kind of laughed it off :P

  • LoL

  • he just caught a crab... get it back and start back up

  • man way to drop the ball one stroke from the finish.

  • Go portugal

  • One of my mates caught a crab during a race, he was bow, and he fell outta the boat. got wacked by 3 seats oar (he was in a four). My Other mate caught a massive crab in an 8, his top half went in the water.

  • hahahahahahaa.

my friend caught a crap like that and broke the rigger

  • ha

    crab

  • when i was rowing one the rowers on my team caught a crab. she was smart though and just leaned back and let the oar of over her head with her hands still on the oar.

  • You can win without a rower as long as you have the cox.

  • holy crap that's a huge crab!!

  • Is this the Bassin Olympique in Montreal?

  • da ist jemand zu weit in die auslage:D

  • lots of std's going around these comments

  • crabs suck.

    never caught one;

    never want to.

  • eh as long as you dont get hit in the head or end up in the water they arent too bad

i wouldnt recommend them though =P

  • yeooouch!

  • she cought crab lol

  • its called catching a crab

  • At our last race, one team's 5 seat got knocked out of their boat during the race! AND they won, too!

  • In most races and events a crew cannot technically win if they do not have a full complement of crew when they cross the finish line.

  • thats not true

  • No really, it is. Otherwise if a crew was slightly down with 100 to go before the finish line and it's a straight course, the cox'n could jump out to lighten the load substantially. I have never competed in a race where a crew can win without a full complement of crew.

  • SECTION 8 - The Finish Rule 75 - Finish of the Race A crew has finished the race when the bow of its boat has crossed the finish line. The race shall be valid even if the crew is incomplete. Nevertheless, a crew of a coxed boat crossing the finish line without its coxswain shall not be placed.

    FISA RULEBOOK

    so ya you were right

but you can race with an incomplete crew of rowers

  • Oh right, yeh I didn't know that, I guess the logic being that if a rower gets ejected, the crew loses power as well as weight, whereas losing the cox means losing just weight!

Thanks for the heads up, I've got next years race plans sorted then...

  • was the race over??? If so then thats pretty normal, Its not okay but alot of people are tired and just crab when they get to the finish line, I've seen it alot.

  • yeh it was right at the end

  • lol this is at the basin ain't it? around when was it taken? I can't wait to get back on the water there.

  • lololololol n33b :P

can't say i have every stuffed up that bad in a race

  • Good girls don't catch crabs ^_~

    Lawlz

  • ahhhh ive never caught a crab that bad but my friend has twice in a row :o

  • i caught a crab the other day, pretty embarassing

  • i caught one yesterday and if we hadnt stopped in like 5 seconds we'd have flipped

  • haha crab, my friend once caught a crab in a sculling quad race (first time we were in the Scull Quads compared to singles) and he recovered 10m more crab 10m crab etc until the very end when it came to check the run and he flung out of boat xD

  • that hurtsssss!!!!

  • I'm sorry but really? I caught a double crab while stopping a quad after a race in the stroke seat and I still didn't get hit.

  • OMG! once on like my first time in a quad, first stroke of the day: CRAB on starboard side, popped it out, second stroke: CRAB on port side! it was BULLSHIT

  • nah, thats not bad....some crabs actually flip people out of the boat....not that bow seat is rowing hard enough to do that lol

  • Where is this?

  • montreal, olympic basin

  • omg. i would be so embarassed!

  • hah had that not been at the end of the race they were screwed

  • he was just saving it all for the end lol :)

  • haha what a huge crab

  • lol
