Back in the mid 1980's when I was in my 20's, I had the opportunity of meeting Gerard Dupervil, and got to spend quite a bit of time with him. In fact, since he was already blind at the time, I used to take him around town in the Brooklyn area when others could not take around. Sadly at the time, I wasn't in awe of him, because I didn't realize his accomplishment in the realm of Haitian music, since I wasn't much into Haitian music at the time.

Now that I am of course older and wiser, I have a deeper appreciation for Haitian music, and i often wish that other non Haitian could be exposed to Haitian music as well, because they too would enjoy it.

Moi aussi, blanc qui ai vecu en Haiti pendant les annees 70 et 80, cette chanson me rapelle le bon vieux temps dans un pays qui n'existe plus. J'ai eu le bonheur de connaitre et de collaborer avec feu le grand artiste quand il habitait Chicago dans les annees 70. Vetou, ou est-ce que vous avez denicher l'audio de cet enregistrement? Il est nettement superieur a celui que j'ai chez moi. Tino Rossi doit mourir de jalousie!

Je dirais la meme chose pour cette chanson aussi. Non seulement quelle est jolie, elle me rappelle de mon enfance lorsque je grandissais en Haiti. Ce que vous voyez dans ce video est un doublage fait probablement a Chicago vers la fin de sa vie. L'enregistrement a ete fait avec le Jazz des Jeunes dans les annees 60.
