The Ragamalikai (7 ragas starting with Saveri followed by Nattaikurunji, Dhanyasi, Mohanam, Mukhari, Poorvi Kalyani, Madhyamavati for each verse looping back to Saveri) was originally set by Semangudi Srinivasa Iyer. His original excellent rendition has all the gamakas expanded and MS has based her performance on that version. Chitra has also rendered it nicely here although I prefer Semagudi's gamaka expansion and style .

This song of Saint Maharaja Swati Tirunaal succinctly and beautifully captures the essence of the whole of the Ramayana. Chitra, and only she, could do justice to MS's renditions.

Wow... what a divine and lovely voice of KS Chitra. Somehow, I was not a big fan of Chitra's filmy songs, but now, I am addicted to this song of her for the song composition, voice and the bakthi that is filling the heart.
