Why would television conglomerates leave a medium they fully control to a medium that is in constant flux. As long as they have the money a high production values they are going to be the biggest draw. And to believe talent can simply just rise through the cracks of the internet is shortsighted. Look at youtube and look at the most viewed people on it. Rarely is it someone with actual talent. Its usually a videoblogger or someone who simply parodies current trends.
He's right. In less than 10 years the internet and traditional TV will be integrated. I think the most important aspect of this, for entertainment purposes, will be that talent will arise much more easily and quickly than traditional processes allows it to, and that it will be a completely unbiased process. Can't wait :-D
Gosh, I was thinking the same thing while watching some videos on Hulu last night. I mean much of the older generation is already so reliant on the internet for entertainment, not to talk of the younger generation. And ads will just flock to wherever the people go so as to be seen of course, and more and more people discover Youtube and Hulu and CollegeHumor everyday.... I wonder what things (particularly media) will be like in 50 year.
while all that's true & almost utopia-like, the main thing wld b web advertising without the traditional tv formula. most ppl check out web contents 'cause its mostly uninterupted and the user is in control of what they watch when they watch.
for me its so hard to see things moving to the internet and remaining as 'userfriendly' as it is now.
Even on collegehumour site, ads just come on spontanously which makes me not wanna watch their videos anywhere but here where i have some control.
