I noticed something interesting in watching this. She seems to only use logic to determine what the potential weapon could be used for, she notes that the pocket knife wouldn't be a weapon of choice but could be used to open a lock, pretty obvious really. She also notes that a hammer could be used to smash glass which is also pretty common, but she got the next object, namely the firemans axe, wrong. I think its no more psychic than Derren Brown.
I think the belief part of these people's brain is out of whack somehow. Where they they believe in what they feel so strongly, they go into Randi's tests actually convinced they can make a showing. Or maybe they figure if they can beat the odds that will make them a career ala Jeane Dixon. Not that that excuses the latent charlatanism of making a living out of this.
It's people like this woman who probably believe they actually are psychic who go on shows like this. People like Sylvia Browne KNOW damn well they're fake, so they always refuse any sort of challenge like this.

It saddens me that people still choose to believe in this nonsense, even though no one has ever been able to demonstrate psychic ability on a scientific basis, and in fact, have failed miserably when asked to do so.
The fact that shows like "Ghost Hunters" and "Psychic Investigators" get big ratings, is disheartening to me.

If Robert Sheldrake is indeed a reputable scientist and can provide evidence of paranormal ability, it is his job as a scientist to present it to the rest of the scientific community for peer-review.

Blaine and Copperfield are very impressive also, but they don't claim what they do is supernatural. And if they did, Randi could easily create an experiment to test David Blaine's levitation or mind-reading, or Copperfield's ability to make the Statue of Liberty disappear. I noticed something interesting in watching this. She seems to only use logic to determine what the potential weapon could be used for, she notes that the pocket knife wouldn't be a weapon of choice but could be used to open a lock, pretty obvious really. She also notes that a hammer could be used to smash glass which is also pretty common, but she got the next object, namely the firemans axe, wrong. I think its no more psychic than Derren Brown.

I think the belief part of these people's brain is out of whack somehow. Where they they believe in what they feel so strongly, they go into Randi's tests actually convinced they can make a showing. Or maybe they figure if they can beat the odds that will make them a career ala Jeane Dixon. Not that that excuses the latent charlatanism of making a living out of this.

It's people like this woman who probably believe they actually are psychic who go on shows like this. People like Sylvia Browne KNOW damn well they're fake, so they always refuse any sort of challenge like this.
It's pretty funny how that works out. The one's who try to prove their "powers" are shot down in seconds, the rest just won't try.
