  • that you man ive been wondering how to animate in sketchup for years

  • thanks so much for suggestions :D ,i will try to use

  • Great presentations, really helped my SketchUp work.

  • Thank you very much! =)

  • To do this, make the staircase its own group (or component), then create a section plane while "inside" that group. It will only affect the geometry inside the group.

  • do have to download this

  • thats great but is it possible to resize the section plane so that it doesnt affect the whole 'extents' of the model. i.e can you just animate sections of a staircase within an existing model ?

  • COOL. It's verry heplful. Thank you Aidan.

  • so how do you save and replay animations? can you save it as a file and show it on a presentation?

  • thanks ;)

  • mate thank-u so much helped alot but one question how do u lyk make a car move or something with scenes

  • I didn;t know how to animate section planes before watching this! Thanks for teaching me! <3

  • Thank you so much, this video made this SO much easier for me!

  • thats hot how the section shows ..its so far away from Autocad loll

  • Thanks! :D You helped a lot!

  • What if you want objects to appear or reappear and move in a scene? when I try to do this it causes all kinds of problems..

  • Watch my response!! 5/5 This helped me alot!!

  • I guess I meant that it took me two years to figure out how to do it properly -- believe it or not, lots of people struggle with this concept. I'm glad you didn't : )

  • how long did YOU take to figure this out? (Unless you are the creator of Sketchup)

  • its not that hard, try playing around with shades aswell, oh and styles ;)

  • @psiacrew ate it took you 1 day to figure out your mums a prick! thumbs up if you agree

  • Thank you, this video helps me a lot!

    SketchUp has different versions ,

which do you think is the best ?

  • 01:20 it took you two years? How long has SketchUp been out ? I thought it was quite a recent program.

  • SketchUp has been available since about 2000. It was developed by a company called @Last Software, which was acquired by Google in March of 2006. I started using it around 2003, when I was still in architecture school.

  • @M1CH43LC

  • do you need any plugins to do this?

  • nope, you do not need any plug-ins do animate section planes. Go try it.. It's fun.

  • Thank you. I has trying to do this for quite some time.

I'm wondering if there are more videos like this one, that take skup to more advanced levels. I'm thinking about ruby console.
