theres crows and ravens around my house everyday, and in a certain part (at certain times), mainly in morning and afternoon. they sort of wait for us to throw out some left overs so they can have them. if we dont, they call out for some it seems lol (from the branches)...then we finally throw something out there...and about 3 min later after we close door, they all come down.

(**how can i get 1 or a few of them to not be too afraid and approach us??? they usually keep their distance.).

yes but they are highly demanding in attention... they make good pets for someone who always have someone around the house. Those birds hate being left alone even for a few hours. Also, ravens and crows are social birds so they need people to interact with them A LOT.

I had a crow once, I found it near a hospital. When I saw it at the wall I was like, "Hey, is that crow?", I walked up to it and I noticed it couldn't fly and it had its leg broken, so I took it home and took a good care of it, once its wounds were healed, I released it... Though I was a little sad when I did that... I miss my crow =c ...

yeah its a rescued orphan, it had fell of the nest in Venice beach and some life guard found it but he didn't know what to do with it so we told him that we would take it.

I had one for a month or so that my Mom rescued when I was five. We used to feed him cat food with forceps (he was very young and had fallen out of the nest in an area where he would've been in danger if we'd left him). he was VERY intelligent and quite friendly.

It's illegal to keep native species, but there are breeders of exotic corvids and that has made species such as Pied Crows and White-necked Ravens relatively easy to obtain.

Keep in mind that corvids are not domesticated, and though wonderful in the right hands, are generally not recommended pets for beginners.

Have you ever heard of lyre birds? There's a pretty good video out there of a wild one imitating jackhammers, car alarms, the sound of a camera shutter... It's amazing.

Now when the crow is noisy thats ok. Its alot better sounding then a large yelping smelly rat dog.

O and if the dog kills the crow make sure to cook the large rat for other crows to eat.
