@Direwolf56 At $350 million per plane plus ~$40,000 per flight hour leave the USAF with 193 really expensive paperweights which they, despite the F-22's stellar record in war games, have yet to field in combat. The jets great but unaffordable. It's doubtful the F-22 can make a real difference in a theater of war for these reasons.
Some Russian Guy: But the F-22 is expensive blah blah blah blah craptor blah blah......
You know why Russian jets are so cheap? Because they have shit technology and are slapped together. We've been developing 5th generation aircraft for the past 20 years, and only now are the Russians testing planned-production prototypes. Their ass couldn't match the shit that comes out of their mouth everytime they see an F-22 video.
@TheCurtisLeMay I'm unsure if you're referring to visually or on radar. If you mean on radar, 'stealth' simply means reduced detection range. At close range, even an F-22 can be detected. An F-35, with a worse RCS profile, can be spotted even further away.
This is a English pilot talking here in this vid. He means what he said. Key word: PILOT!!! The rest of us are keyboard pilot wanna be, know it all. But really don't know Shit!
This plane is a disgrace to the Skunk Works name, it is vulnerable to rain, it took 30+ years to develop, it has a critical failure every 1.7 hours of flight, it need 30 hours of mainetance for 1 hour of flying, it costs 356 million dollars per plane, your own NBC news says so
@Sonoitadrifter Cancelled project? you meant cancelled in its planned mass production. its not a project but a fully functional aircraft stationed in military bases around the country and making trips in foriegn countries
@nwtruckerll err... it can carry as much AA missiles as any US fighter aircraft with exception of perhaps the Fa 18. The gun is there to dogfight, not b/c it has less missiles.
@vk45de ,sure, didn't mean to imply otherwise, missle capacity is less if maintaining stealth, if I understand correctly. Can use externals though, I think.
After all, not much use to have a gun if your not gonna "play".

@JFDhater that's why it has IR signature-suppression features. The F-35, in case anyone was wondering, doesn't.

144 to 0 kill ratio. one othese if it didn't have to refuel and reload could take on all of Iran's air force.
