  • die hab ich aufm irish spring festiavl in güls live gesehn =)

  • The first time I heard this song was when I was in Globe Theatre where 'Bedlam' was played. The actors sung this song and it was awful. Since then I hear it quite often.

  • I've listened to pretty much every version of this song on the internet. Jeana and Siobhan's interpretation is easily one of the best, only the Heather Alexander version is near as good.

  • This is great, they have an cd called Shadows Tall out and it is just superb

  • love this so much

  • wikipedia also has info about the song/poem, which dates back to near 1600

  • wikipedia continues:

'The word bedlam, meaning uproar and confusion, is derived from its name. Although the hospital is now at the forefront of humane psychiatric treatment, for much of its history it was notorious for cruelty and inhumane treatment – the epitome of what the term "madhouse" connotes to the modern reader.'

Where exactly in Scotland is 'Bedlam'?

  • From wikipedia:

The Bethlem Royal Hospital of London is a psychiatric hospital at Beckenham in the London Borough of Bromley. Although no longer in its original location and buildings, it is recognised as the world's first and oldest institution to specialise in the mentally ill. It has been variously known as St. Mary Bethlehem, Bethlem Hospital, Bethlehem Hospital and Bedlam.

  • who the hell said this was an english song? its about a mad house in Bedlam, Scotland in the 18th century when poeple would pay to see the mentally challenged run about.

  • it's not bad, average, not the kind of music i like
