Had NO idea this was originally a Byrds song! Omgawd!! .....wow....dunno what to say. LOVE their version. I like the Turtles too but,,,,this is,,,,,somethin else. Thank you so much ♥ wow
I am posting this in an effort to find some information on a record. I found the rarest Byrds record in a Shreveport, La. flea market in 2006(?). It's the Beefeaters 45 on the Bounty label. There is one known copy, I think. You can see it on the Byrdsflyght website on the discography page. (Just google.... byrdsflyght). The website owner says that he had been looking for that record for 44 years. Actually, he had never heard of it when I informed him of my find. Does another copy exist?
why the fuck does someone have to write some some shit about lady gaga or justin beiber in the comments of every fucking rock song. I'm not a fan either, but i'm not gonna whine about that shit every time i listen to a great song. jesus, get over it.
Lovely, thank you for uploading this. Funny really. When I was in my teens in the 60's, I remember The Turtles for "So Happy Together" and "Elenore". I never even knew about this song at the time. Only became aware of it from SaltnPepa and The Lightning Seeds in th 90's. Then tracked it back to The Turtles and then to Gene Clark. Found it as the first track on a retrospective Cd on him about 9 years ago. I love this original, and also the slower versions too.
I prefer the slower more emotional version that the Turtles charted with. It's better produced as well with orchestration and so forth. Cudos to McGuinn for writing it though!
Roger McGuinn demonstrated this song for the Turtles on a broken pump organ, and it came out much slower, and the Turtles spurned a hit in that manner...

Byrds- Americas answer to the Beatles...I don't think so.

Jim (Roger) McGuinn of the Byrds wrote this, so seems this is the original tempo

I prefer the slowed-down trippy The Turtles version. You should also check out the version by The Lightning Seeds.

Very reminiscent of 'And I Love Her', particularly the final chord change.

@chh5555 Quite agree. I'm glad someone wrote this song, but I'm sure glad the Turtles did it the way they did it.
