  • Entre les étoiles

Le Seigneur a écrit ton nom,

    Entre les étoiles

    Tout là-haut dans sa maison.

    Entre les étoiles

Le Seigneur a posé ta vie,

    Entre les étoiles

    Près de lui en Paradis.

  • What a BEAUTIFUL voice.

  • Hahahahahaha this song is absolutely hilarious - "Dominique" became as notorious as the Village people YMCA or in the Navy. Try no to take life too seriously that what I think. ; )

  • Pretty tune

  • A very haunting tune by a voice that's in heaven now , Soeur Sourire, God Bless you and Rest In Peace....T. Y. Danikleine......

  • what a nice voice, although i can not understand france language but the melody of the song , so thouching ..i like it so much ..

  • She had such a lilting voice. I remember listing to her with my Grandfather on his Philips record player. As a child thought she had beautiful voice yet I also found it haunting. Funny how a song can bring up ghosts from the past.

  • I was sad to here she the smiling sister had left the convent. Even sadder to here she took her life. the world lost a beautiful sol and a beautiful singing voice. Va avec deau ma sourire. sorry the bad spelling.

  • Many years ago..an aunt of mine gave me a 45 record of tis lovely song and on the flip side was Dominique

  • One of the most beautiful souls ever offered to the Catholic Church.

They didn't value Pierre Abelard either.

  • I have always heard that sister smiles had bad butt gas. p u

  • She had a good woyse.Man shudder throughout the body when you hear the songs that she played ...

  • This gives me chills - haven't heard it since I was 9 years old. Souer Sourire had a tremendous talent but very little ability to deal with the nasty world of recording and being a "star". She saw no other way out of her problems than suicide. The author suggests she had a bipolar condition, but given the horrible conditions she grew up in, it's no wonder she was traumatized. But just listen to the delicate, poetic, sincere songs that came out of this wounded soul!

  • Where can I buy the 2 CD set?

  • Sounds like the soundtrack at the end of a Hayao Miyazaki film ..

  • Such beautiful French! I wish all the kids would take pride in the language as she has here. I find myself playing this often. What a voice. I don't know why it wasn't a chart maker itself.

    isamalima

  • Un bien beau souvenir.....joli joli

  • The Belgium Government demanded back taxes in full of 20 Grand from Soeur Sourire and her significant other who ran an orphanage together and they couldn't pay so they had to shut the orphanage and committed suicide together and were found in each others' arms. They were saints and the Belgium Gov't couldn't let go of 20 K for women who lived to give.

  • @showtuneful that is sad and sick

  • @showtuneful I'm Belgian, and there isn't even such thing as a 'Belgian Government'... When you give negative arguments, you really should check your sources before you blame us... It is true that they had to shut the orphanage, but the rest???

  • @Ruigekerel I'm guessing showtuneful is American. It's a nuanced difference, but we use the word "government" to mean in broad terms the structure always in place no matter who is in power at a given time. Most people in Eurpoe mean "the party currently in power" when they say "government" -- what we in the US call "The Administration". That said, it's a matter of record that tax authorities in Belgium hounded her about the royalties, all of which she believed she had conferred to her Order.

  • @mikeygator Do not forget the Belgium Child Rape and Murder Scandal, involving the highest members of the Belgium Government, that was also going on at the same time.

  • Among the stars-- the Lord has written your name--among the stars--way up high in his dwelling place. Among the stars-the Lord has placed your life-Among the stars-close to him in Paradise. (english trans.)

  • Thank you for the translation. Much appreciated.

  • @KontrolandoAviones Babelfish much? ;)

I sought God and found Jeanine!

  • Between the stars...

  • anyone speak french? what's the english translation? ever since I bought the 45 rpm back in the 60's i've always liked the B side better than the A. I still have it in good condition, too.

  • this album is excellent all through,,,not a one hit wonder

  • Rust zacht met uw geliefde.

  • I think I like this more than Dominique. Very beautiful song.

  • At least she died in the arms of her soulmate Anna.

  • very sat

  • Rip

    :]

  • This is a truly beautiful song, both the melody as well as the words themselves. It brings home to me how special each one of us is, and how prec ious each of our lives is...my life and the lives of each one of you who read this. I am grateful to this good and talented lady who had the sensitivity to discern this truth and to express it with such beauty. My prayer is that she has found peace and perfect happiness with God that she sang about. Sister Sourire, rest in God's love and peace!

  • Very well said. She left the church not her god.

  • Nice song. seet voice. San story life.

  • I love this song. when I was a kid I played this even more than the A side Dominique

  • Bravo! mes ami Bravo!

  • mouais kitch

  • Yeah Jean Deckers was Belgium. NOT FRENCH! So it is not necessarily all French French. It's Belgium French, subtle, but different. So the only stupid questions are ones that are not asked but assumed.

  • Do you even speak French ? Sure, there are little differences between Paris, Marseille and Namur, but this is only one language. Sœur Sourire sings in French, I don't hear any kind of an other language than French.

  • C'est Magnifique.

    Elle est Belle.

    Hector

  • magnifique !!!

  • the b side of dominique which charted #1 in the u.s. billboard charts in 1963 and was an international hit throughout the world . one has to look beyond ones personal life and enjoy the beauty of the songs that she wrote ,which most of the songs are about the goodness of ones love for the meaning of life. great upload!!!

  • I remember my grandmother would play the entire record when I was very young. Her record player was this old (but stylish!) heavy, square enameled wood set up, and the floors in the house were all wood, so this record seemed to echo through the entire house as the sun shined through the windows - beautiful memories...I love this record...

  • wat language is this

    its a beautiful song

  • I'm no linguist, but it might be French.

  • yes indeed it is french ;)

  • It's french, like duh.

    If you don't know that, you're stupid. (;

  • well when u only speak one language

    which is english

no its not stupid to not know wat language it is

  • You're definitely stupid and idiot if you don't know that's French which is an international language. It's like you don't know when someone is speaking spanish. Tu es vraiment un idiot!

    NY

  • Yes it is. (':

    French is a worldlanguage.

People speak in many places French.

I'm not French. Flemish is my motherlanguage. But I can recognize several languages in Europe. At least you should recognize French. If you can't keep Chinese apart from Japanese. No problem, that's normal. But languages as French, English, Italian, Spanish, German, etc. you should recognize. And Spanish and French is very different. I mean... very very different.

  • OMG

IM SO SRY I CANT TELL IT APART!!!

my apologize that i can tell its french...jeez

  • Actually, TimmShizzle, you are very very wrong. French and Spanish share the root language of Latin, and are very closely related linguistically. Chinese and Japanese are NOT in any way related linguistically, and only their WRITTEN languages share a similar set of characters. Saying "it's normal" not to be able to tell them apart is like saying it's normal not to be able to tell Flemish from Hungarian because they share the same alphabet. Must there be so much Eurocentricity on YouTube?

  • You sound like one irritating fuck.

  • My favorite by her.

Marie

  • Thank you for a beautiful song. She is my favourite singer with a tragic end. I loof for this song in germany language. Catholic church is a absolute monarchy at that time and today.

  • This is a lovely song by a lovely woman. if you enjoy the song as I do, play it again and say a decade or a prayer for for her departed soul. We are not here to judge, we all fall short of perfection

  • @kimberlyb7075 i listen to necrophagist and and death metal and such but this songs is straight up good news God speed folks

  • I say this in emphasis; its a very sad story but a story which has been repeated throughout the history of humankind..those in power haven't a soul with regards to those without worldly power whom have enough soul to shower the universe.

  • Jeanine Deckers is amazing singer and songwriter who got badly fucked and stabbed in the back by her convent, with her suicide as a result.. The Church and Corruption walking hand in hand, like usual

  • Nonsense. She gave her money to her convent, and the crooked government hounded her to her death over taxes. Don't blame the Church - blame the thieving politicians.

  • I thought you were going to ignore any reply? why are you reading this then?!?!

and what was that word you starred out? I can't figure it out ... is can't be 'asshole' because you're far too preachy about class and character to use such a vulgar word. what could it be? what could it be?

you're a hyp*cr*t who cites wikipedia because you're too l*zy to do any real research!!!

    hope you've enjoyed ignoring this!!

    ahahahahahaha!!

  • lmao!

that French guy really ripped you a new a**hole!! (and he was sorta right about wiki, too)

    lm*o!

  • Vatican II has not "destroyed" the Church. What nonsense! Ecclesia vivit et vivet, per Spiritum.

  • the Debbie Reynolds singing nun film soundtrack has her singing these lovely tunes in English

    this one is called

    "far beyond the stars"

  • What a beautiful song.

  • I memorized this song when I was 12 and I did not speak French. In her later years before she committed suicide, Soeur Sourire opened a school for autistic children.

  • crisp

  • I know what you mean. We all need some kind of belief to cling to... which makes it all the more disappointing when the symbol of our belief lets us down.

  • There are bad priests and worse priests. Woe on them!!

You have to found the real good priest!

  • Spare the priests. They are just humans. They are also sinners. Hate the sin, not the sinners.:)

  • How sad that the church we grow up loving turns it's back on us when we need it most. Still we cling to the lessons we learn as a child looking for love and acceptance.

  • Vatican II reforms is destroying the Church, but Jesus promised He will be with her until the end of times... Have courage, go to traditional latin mass in your area. We have to search in our roots. Pax et Bonum.

  • Le soir où ]e Seigneur t'appelera,

    Le soir,

Le soir où tes vieux jours hâteront

    Le Départ

    Le soir du rendez-vous transfiguré

    I'espoir

RIP Soeur Sourire

  • so beautiful

  • I cry everytime I listen to this song. She reaches into the soul and grabs it. God must have sent this angel to us to awaken what is good and decent within all of us.

  • I have too agree with you this song does touch the deeper things of our soul and deep things in our hearts. GOD does have a way of awakening us with this beautiful song by her which sends a message too know the deeper things of GOD

  • Such a pure and beautiful voice. She will live on in death as she did in life. We lost a beautiful person when we lost her here on earth.

  • This song is beautiful: the voice so pure and clean. The guitar that accompanies it so lovely. It is difficult to contemplate the tragic demise of the Singing Nun.

  • I love this song.... its so beatiful.... omg!!!!

  • What a beautiful song.

  • Another casualty of Vatican II, I think.

  • this is some of the best beautiful expression that has come out of the human experience. ai, be nice, my friends. flowers come out of the most amazing places.

  • stop casting stones ,

  • Such beautiful music from such a tortured soul. May God have mercy on her.

  • She was beautiful. She doesn't need his mercy. But he certainly needs her forgiveness.

  • Great to hear the original. Thanks.

  • Thank you for ur kind words. But the only ones that need forgiveness are the nuns of her convent, not her.

  • How come the nuns of Fichermont need forgiveness - she became a Dominican nun, her views which came out later prove that she should never have entred the religious life, when a person enters the religious life they present their lives to that life style and are supposed to reject worldly affairs - she obviously didn't and this inflated her ego and thus she left to return to the world - being a Dominican Contemplative sister requires obedience to the Rule

  • stupid, bigoted comment.

  • To CDSUCH

    I 100% agree

  • are there any church that is not full of corruption and sh**s?

  • To Daniklein

    Very true

  • One of the best song in my teenagers years ,I didn't know that she died this way until to-day. May the good lord forgive her and bring her to everlasting life,so that one day she will sing " Dominic " to all of us, Amen .

  • Sings well.
