  • lol it's funny how the juice advocate bimbo was saying you have to "look at the whole story" when juice companies never even discuss sugar.

  • When I come across these clips my first instinct is to assume that they are spoof comedy - then I see that dreaded Fox News sign at the bottom left and I start to worry that anyone might be taking this more seriously than Laurel and Hardy. If you do take anything on this "News" channel seriously - please read 1984. Please.

  • thing is, kids tend to move around a lot more, so I think some extra sugar is ok for them considering the fact that they burn most of it. I work out, and drink a coke or two every day, and I don't gain weight

  • I know it\s ex[ensive buy if you want the freshest fruit juice that's what yoou have to do

  • I do eat whole fruit and drink water. Or you could get a juicer too

  • @MaddDogg81

I had one of those juicers, you always have to pack sooooo much fruit just to get a glass. The juice is good, but it's pretty darn expensive.

  • John didn't know enough to say that eating fruit allows your system to absorb the sugar GRADUALLY as it's digested over a number of HOURS in your digestive tract, giving you hours of gradual, even energy ; meanwhile fruit JUICE is absorbed almost IMMEDIATELY and it spikes your blood-sugar through the roof, causing a shock which spikes your insulin-levels and converts it all to FAT, leaving you tired and lethargic for hours, creating much more ERRATIC energy.

  • I take vitamins and drink DIET coke. No sugar. That way I can be 250 lbs with no fat!

  • I mean natural Fruit Juice has to be better than soda

  • @MaddDogg81

Yes, it's much better because it has vitamins and other nutrients, but even better than juice would be to eat the whole fruit and drink water if you're thristy.

  • fuit jiuce is sitll better than soda

  • @MaddDogg81 it depends.

  • I try and get natura; juices

  • like how she says "STOSSEL!"

  • it's about time somebody says that fruits or fruit juice is loaded with sugar.

don't put fruit and vegetable in the same category.

    fruit is a candy.

    veggies = good

    fruits = be careful

  • @cirosuperiore

You forgot that starchy vegetables aren't necessarily good, particularly corn and potatoes.

  • @Hello59239 u dont get any arguments about that from me... i agree, starch is also fattening or at least will not make people lose weight.

  • @cirosuperiore

Yeah. I think the "Eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day" statement might have ties to the fruit lobby.......you should be eating more vegetables than fruits. And green vegetables are the best.

  • @Hello59239 the agribusiness is a scandal. they push all kind of junk on TV and call it health foods, like french fries chips and pretzels. They have people like Dr. Oz and Oprah to thank for a much of their misinformation.

  • @cirosuperiore

Yeah, I think CSPI is the worst group though. They were the ones that introduced trans fat into restaurants.

  • Sugar is sugar. If you sit on your ass and eat sugar, you get fat. If you go for a run every day and eat sugar, you burn it off. Of course it depends on how much you eat and how often you run... but y'know.

  • she is very excited about the word "STOSSEL" it's like saying it gives her another hit of whatever happy pill she's on.

  • I love the way she says "STOSSEL".

  • so, ive seen a few of these segments and she always gets excited when stossel comes on....

  • sugargasm

  • The question is, "what kind of sugar are they adding?" Some sugars are good for you. The white sugar he's spooning isn't.

  • It's easier drinking 10 glasses of juice through out the day than eating 20 apples.

  • the ads might not be completely true, but thats just business, do you think Sarah Palin was going to come out and just say "oh I can't name all the countries in north america" fuck no, it's sure as shit true, but if someone is trying to sell you something they'll go to all lengths to make sure you don't know the truth, I'm willing to bet the soda companies are hiding just as much as the juice companies

  • @assassinsrock Do you have anything to back up the Palin statement, or are you just mud-slinging?

  • Overall I like Stossel, but sometimes (like here) he doesn't know what he's talking about. He doesn't know the first thing about basic nutrition. Not all sugars are the same and a vitamin supplement isn't as good as natural phytonutrients. If you aren't an expert, don't pretend you're smarter than those that are.

  • @noonej Stossel knows EXACTLY what he is talking about, and he admits to exactly what you claim

his point must be subtle to you. it is clear to me he is simply pointing out that ads like the NY ad showing fat pouring from soda cans are misleading govt propaganda. sure there are nutrients in juice, but as the govt propaganda makes claims about sugar in soda, they ignore sugar in juice. and RARELY is juice 100% juice

and nowhere does Stossel claim to be an "expert"

    hes an investigative reporter

  • That woman is on amphetamines. You can tell by the crazed smile.

  • Liberals, what is wrong with diet soda? Soda is such a broad term since there is also diet soda. 0 calories and being sweetened with potassium and aspartame. What is wrong with that? Also, there are flavored water brands that do not use sugar such as Aquafina's FlavorSplash and Fruit2O. Do you dislike them?

  • stossel stossel stossel she loves saying that

  • To understand this issue fully, please read the book "Fantastic Voyage" by Ray Kurzweil and Dr. Terry Grossman. There are many issues here:

    1) Stossel is basically right. The excessive sugar in fruit juice is bad for you, and many brands add additional sugar.

    2) The sugar in fruit juice is fructose, so it is slightly easier for your body to process it than sucrose.

    3) Fruit is better than juice, because the fiber in the fruit prevents absorbtion of a lot of the sugar.

  • 4) Stevia Clear added to v-8 tasted like berry juice, is sweet and super healthy. In fact, Stevia clear can make unsweetened soymilk hot cocoa, and can be added to unsweet fruit juices (like unsweetened cranberry juice) to make it deliciously sweet. The FDA banned the truthful advertising of stevia, but not its use as a "supplement", when Donald Rumsfeld's company "Nutrasweet" lobbied the FDA to do so. Result: 100,000 innocent Americans per year DEAD of type II diabetes, millions unhealthy.

  • Even as a Liberal I know this is the truth.

  • Isn't there a difference between the natural sugars found in fruit and the processed sugar added to soda?

  • I think there is a difference on how your body digests and distributes it. But, in the end, it's as harmful (or not) just like processed sugar - which is simply natural sugar as well, just cleaned from any residue. That's why it's so white. Nothing unnatural about it actually.

  • @manoman0

You are better off staying quiet. Table sugar is processed using many chemical and mechanical steps. Not just "cleaning" it off. Sucrose is not natural.

  • @jjason1985 - Oh! Yes! White Sugar is Devil's Work! 100% Sugar. I wonder what THAT might mean, uh?

  • @manoman0

I guess I never learned about a plant that makes pure sucrose with nothing else in it.

    /sarcasm.

  • so basically, there's no big difference. As you can see, Stossel takes a sip of the apple juice. There's nothing to worry about. Just, don't drink gallons of it.

  • Her nose is pointing to the right. I think she is detecting water like a divining rod.

  • What's wrong with that girl? too much sugar?

  • Stossel is soo hitting that.

  • @deke76 Stossel is sooo hitting his hand.

  • I think she's weirding him out, especially when she says, "STOSSEL!"

  • That hot blond seemed a bit hot and flustered for Stossel a bit. I think she wanted to swallow some natural "juices" her self.
