The probe in question did go to the polar regions of the sun, BUT it didn't go INTO the sun, what they are meaning is that the probe went into polar ORBIT around the sun, to study the northern and southern regions, as we have not observed them directly before. I for one am only convinced of those STS videos where the object in question changes direction (there are a couple), because a change in direction is so much more an indication of intelligent control than objects that move adrift. Objects that move adrift could be UFO's but could also be all kinds of other things. Space is not entirely empty.
Also strange is how the camera skips once the Ulysses is launched. The crewman only refers to one object when it appears there are several so why is that I wonder? It sounded more like he was concerned about damage to the Ulysses rahter than something potentially hostile. Could it be that as the camera is panning up that more of the objects/stars become visible as the camera is directed away from the immediate light source on the Discovery?

So you are saying that every fast moving object that you can see in space is a UFO?? Go look at random shuttle footage and you will see TONS and TONS of meteorites. What I'm saying is that most meteors are small and dark. The chanses of seeing one without the aid of a telescope in the dark of space are extreamly small indded. I think the UFO that was shot at was the smaller light that showed 1:28 in the video and "TAKES OFF" It comes into view after the first bright light comes into view at 1:26, then a seconds opops into view at 1:28 and moves away from the shuttle. I think it is the second one that was being shot at but it could have been the first brighter light.

Don't the folk who work on and pack up these things into the shuttle payload bay work in super-clean environments? We always see them in those white suits with their hands and feet and heads and faces covered...I'd like to know what sort of "debris" makes it through that super-sterilized process.

space junk, ohh boy....surprised that our craft can survive with all that junk flying around...even the smallest little puncture will be catastrophic...get real! And what about that streak of light...obviously its not a meteorite, theres no atmosphere! The only other explanation is a comet...as for the space junk..look at some of this "junk" it moves! It pulsates and blinks! And this is just one piece of NASA space footage, there are many other better ones out there which undoubtedly depict UFOs

But that at 1:27 is not the only one that appears "out of nowhere" !

Look for the streamer trailing the U.F.O! That isn't natural!! Yes a comet can have a "tail" but it always faces away from the sun. This is no comet, space junk or meteor! It's not large, it's moving away from earth in the vacume of space at a tremendous rate of speed! With a vapor trail behind it! This isn't a faked video, it is a real nasa video while launching a satalite to observe the sun.

UFO simply means they are object flying that we can't identifiy. there for all the background objects that are moving about are by definition UFO's. A rocket scientist once said, "you don't have to be a rocket scientist to be a rocket scientist"! LOL

The stationary "lights" are starts. The shooting object is likely a meteorite. The moving "lights" are jetsam and debree from within the payload bay illuminated by the bay lights and by the sun.
I want to see aliens like the rest of you, but this is just silly.

you can only see a streaming meateor when atmopheric friction heat up a meteorite. These STREAMING U.F.O.'S ARE OUTBOUND!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS? THERE IS NO ATMOSPHERE TO HEAT IT UP! IF IT WERE A METEOR, YOU COULDN'T SEE IT! And it is moving 200% faster than a meteor!

I for one am only convinced of those STS videos where the object in question changes direction (there are a couple), because a change in direction is so much more an indication of intelligent control than objects that move adrift. Objects that move adrift could be UFO's but could also be all kinds of other things. Space is not entirely empty.

Also strange is how the camera skips once the Ulysses is launched. The crewman only refers to one object when it appears there are several so why is that I wonder? It sounded more like he was concerned about damage to the Ulysses rahter than something potentially hostile. Could it be that as the camera is panning up that more of the objects/stars become visible as the camera is directed away from the immediate light source on the Discovery?

Well the "shooting" looks to me like a meteorite. As far as the UFO's I am not really sure where the intelligent movement everyone is referring to is coming from. Could someone elaborate on what dictates the intelligent movement. The objects all seem to be on a steady course... But I do notice some strange lights that just appear. That is quite unusual. I just don't see any erratic flight patterns that would suggest "intelligent" movement..

The poster made a comment about clocking the "meteorite" at 900,000 miles per hour but without any reference to scale or distance I don't see how you could possibly estimate it's speed. My two cents- it was a meteorite but there are definitely some strange lights going on in that video. Possibly a couple of satelites and debris but almost certainly some UFO's too...

they have estimated the speed of these things from other video with the earth in the backgraound as a scale. They have been clocked at 900,000 mph.

So you are saying that every fast moving object that you can see in space is a UFO?? Go look at random shuttle footage and you will see TONS and TONS of meteorites. Granted they glow when they enter the atmosphere but that doesn't mean they are invisible until then... And 200% fatser than a meteor? Is there a standard speed at which metoers move?

What I'm saying is that most meteors are small and dark. The chanses of seeing one without the aid of a telescope in the dark of space are extreamly small indded. I f you did see one it would only be by reflected light from the sun. there would be no miles long treamer trail behind it the vacume of space because there is no friction to heat it up to make it glow and cast off heated matter! the only explination for the trailer or streamer is the exaust of fuel!

there are stars, you see them as the shuttle moves they slowly come into view from behinf the shuttle and slowly change position as the shuttle moves. The lights that just POP into view and take of in different directions and speed are the UFO's.They seem to swarm around the shuttle from a distance.

Reply to Mafkeesdejong: Stars don't move. The Background light that move in a predictable direction and speed slowly comming into view around the shuttle are the stars. The lights that you refer to that move in odd direction and speed are not stars!!! They are UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS-- IN the second camera angle you hear the astronauts discussing them with ground controle as the satalite is released. from the position of the satalite we know they discuss it before the shot at the U.F.O.

I think the UFO that was shot at was the smaller light that showed 1:28 in the video and "TAKES OFF" It comes into view after the first bright light comes into view at 1:26, then a seconds opops into view at 1:28 and moves away from the shuttle. I think it is the second one that was being shot at but it could have been the first brighter light.

No sir. Most of the lights are stars that move in a common direction and speed relitive to the motion of the shuttle(stars dont move). It is the other lights that move off at differents velocities (speed with direction, even changing direction and speed as they move.
