  • still faster than my computer

  • also depens on the processor the phone has

  • is faster but that wat i xpected

  • does 4g cost the same as 3g?

  • Wow! You mean that by getting a 4G phone I can open a web page 5 seconds faster than a 3G phone?! Man, just imagine what you could do with those 5 seconds...

  • HOAX!!!! I am getting 6mbit with Verizon 3g. So if this video is fact then 4g is slower than 3g? I am in Central FL in a very wooded area and Verzion is the only company that does drop calls. But even ATT comes back at 4mbit

  • @NotWatching666999 What? It's IMPOSSIBLE to get 6mb on Verizon 3G..... Verizon's 3G is capped at 3.1mbps. If you're getting over ~2.5mbps, chances are you're using 4G or the speedtest is WRONG.

  • @NotWatching666999 Your probably still on your wifi and not using 3g.

  • In a 1 bar 4g area I get 10 mbps down and 5 up. On a full service area I get 27 MBPS! down and around 12 up. Thats real 4g unlike tmobile's "4g"

  • I have the HTC Thunderbolt and I got 44MBPS Download at Sixflags in MA. It is really fast. At&t, Sprint, and T-mobile don't even compare!

  • 4G in my hometown on the 15th. Very excited.

  • On sprint 3g I get about 1 MB every time Verizon looks half sprint speed

  • I got the Motorola photon 4g on sprint and got about 12 to 16 mbs

  • I have the Thunderbolt and in my area I get around 4-27 in different areas

  • I got the thunderbolt for the 4g and OMG!! I have hit 40mbps

  • @ryanmajor2 bullshit!!!!

  • even though im on att I will be getting the verizon 4g mifi hotspot with a data plan really soon because my dsl sucks

  • Doesn't seem to be a huge difference in browsing, really. I imagine downloading files would fly by way faster on the Thunderbolt, but in the website test the Thunderbolt didn't load flash, which is the largest and hardest to render part of the page, while the Droid X did.

  • Funny thing is...no mobile company has capabilities to give true 4g..which starts at 100mbps

  • @Arlind86 what 100mbps???? no way im sure 4g can only do up to 10 mbps on an excellent signal

  • @djmoindahouse are u not understanding anything from my comment?

The requirements for 4g speeds starts at 100mbps...the highest verizon can provide is close to 50mbps on a shared device, and that is at very few stores...Ive seen verizon devices go up to 15 at some stores which is still not bad, but to consider this 4g speed is just bs...a way to get people to upgrade their phones and contracts and bring more money to the cel provides..and people buy their lies

  • @Arlind86 Theoretical speeds lte gets about 105 mbps and wimax gets a little higher but sprint won't beat verizon's lte network just yet at least. The speeds required are 100+mbps theoretical.

  • @skateozzy 277 MAX for lte download and about 70 MAX download wimax ....lte averages about 15-25..ive seen 27 the highest on my 4g verizon phone...if they aren't going to let it go at 100+ why call it 4g?just because it's capable?....Eitherways anything above 6mbps is good enough on celphones but this companies are overpricing for commercializing something they don't give full access too. Even verizon took off the unlimited data package - not an option anymore

  • @Arlind86

bro, "4g" doesn't represent some benchmark for speed like a wired t1, t2, or t3 line. it just stands for 4th generation. and 4th generation just means better than the previous generation. which 4g is. 100 mbps is absolutely unheard of for any device to need. i can assure you that only the richest individuals and a business with at least 50 computers to actually want one. that would run you upwards of 4000 dollars monthly.

  • @robbybuckley49 Oh really? It doesnt represent some benchmark? It's not measured by speed? I guess It's measured by how many phone are connected in the air..wtf are u talking about..True 4g's reqs should reach at least 100mbps and 1gbs stationary..Verizon has the faster 4gb available and it won't pass 50mpbs.Fastest ive seen on my Droid charge has been 22.5 download speed. This service providers are selling what i call A BIT FASTER than 3g connection..Only 50 PCs?We have 2k with 1gbs speeds

  • if/when the iphone goes on verizons 4g lte (whenever that may be) how many mbps can we expect? 4-8? 5-12? 5-20? honest answer please...

  • @Jrizz88 the only way that would matter is if somehow the 4g antenna for the iphone has a better range. In that case proximity to a 4g transmitter is all that matters. Verizon's official documentation says "expect download speeds of 5 to 12mbps".

  • @tavenger5 and those speeds should work excellent with slingbox and netflix correct?

  • So which one was 3G and which was 4G?

  • @Jermz1997 the one of the left is 3g and right is 4g

  • @tavenger5

Thanks its because he didnt move the phones when he announced the names.

  • @Jermz1997 so its not hard to tell its obvious that the droid x is a 3g phone and the thunderbolt is a 4g phone and you could look at the icons on the phone that say 3g and 4g

  • @SiCkViDeOs56789

Well it may say it now that I took a look for the icons but I was looking at the meter the wholer time.

  • I got 45 Mbps at work. Thats the fastest so far. I consistently get 35-37 Mbps on 4G in Houston, Texas.

  • Will the battery life last longer if you just use the thunderbolt for only calling , sms , music?? will it make ALOT of difference ???

  • My thunderbolt sucks,, ill trade somebody for a verizon iphone :)

  • who cares if its takes 2 seconds longer like really lol

  • Can someone please explain what Gingerbread means? :S

  • evreybody know that the 4g is going to kill the 3g dumb video. do one with them both on 3g thats what i'm interested in because i dont have 4g here yet and wont for a long time..

  • Thunderbolt and the EVO 4G are the best phones on the market.

Will there be an update to Gingerbread for these devices?

  • @KingVirmire HTC has stated a few times that the TB will get Gingerbread, but I'm not sure if the EVO will.

  • Well I was myself a Droid x user I still have but when I saw the thunderbolt I knew I had to get it, what can I say I am gadget freak, take my word for it the thunderbolt is pretty quick

  • so why was the Thunderbolt upload speed dubious in this test? thanks.

  • @FMAStudent because of the upload buffer on the Thunderbolt. The app doesn't have a mechanism to account for that buffer.

  • The screen on the Thunderbolt is dull compared to other cell phones.

  • @GlockNinja If you put it next to the yet to be released Samsung 4g LTE phone like I did, yes you'll see a difference.

  • @cellphoneforum I think they dulled the screen on purpose to help battery life. I went to a Verizon booth in the mall and tried to play with one but the batter was dead. They had to recharge it for 15 minutes. I went to another store and came back. The screen was so dark I could barely make out anything. I'm sorta glad I am not eligible for an upgrade until December or else I would have gotten the Thunderbolt. This way, I am forced to wait and perhaps they would resolve all issues.

  • @GlockNinja exactly! thats why bigger isnt always better.

  • The fastest speed i have gotten on my iPhone 4 on AT&T 3G is 4.34 Mbps down and 1.55 Mbps up

  • @244jml That's great - I'm pretty sure the results I got are slow for 4g

  • @244jml AT&T speed is fast on paper, but Verizon 3G is faster IRL.

  • My best download speeds on the thunderbolt with speed test are 28930 and best upload of 43346 here in dallas. These numbers seem very high to me but seeing this video shows how a drastically higher number doesn't exactly equate to drastically higher real world speeds.

  • The browser speed test isn't much different u wudnt notice the difference if u didn't hav them side by side

  • I have a Droid X and the fastest I've ever had was 7Mbps. Download

  • Actually it is highly inaccurate. Why use a speed test that does not show complete accurate results

  • I got consistent 3500-4000 and 3000-3500 droid x

  • Does 4g service affect the battery life?

  • @lcarrasco212 If the phone is constantly going in and out of 4g service the searching that the phone does for that connection will eat up battery life, yes.

  • @lcarrasco212

i am not sure but the thunderbolt cant really hold batterylife.

  • @lcarrasco212 yes like2 to 3 times faster, so u turn it off when ur not using it

  • The speed test is highly inaccurate. Speedtest does no work correctly (YET) with LTE.

  • @MillQElectronics not true - only the upload speed is incorrect

  • You have to make sure you're selecting the same server for both devices. Otherwise this test is utterly useless.

  • @reuthermonkey1 Yep, the server selected on both phones is the same

  • No that 4G is speed is correct. It has been reproduced many times. Some times going up to 40 up and 19 down

  • @vistauploader I was actually told it was an error with the speedtest app

  • @cellphoneforum Phonedog got it but I think your right. Try going straight to their webpage. I think you'll get more believable results. I think someone went to the website and got like 15 down and 9 up. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @vistauploader Do you mean tethering the phone to a computer and then going to speedtest on the computer? Yes, I've heard that would be more accurate as well. The difference between speed on the two phones is the real result though.

  • @cellphoneforum I mean that on the phone itself go to the speedtest website and do it there. I think they use flash so you might need to have flash enabled.

  • @vistauploader I did this and the results varied based on the server that was connected to and what room I was in. The best I saw was 10Mbps download and 2 up. Connecting to the same sever as the one in the video gave a similar download speed & more accurate upload speed.

  • @vistauploader I posted the results to the review

  • nice video. can you please post another one. testing youtube and more web browsing

  • @pabl0y I'll try to get something recorded tomorrow

  • @pabl0y I didn't do any browsing, but I recorded another video of Youtube loading
