  • Wonderful jazzy stuff! I used to have a Lp of all Freddie Rich tunes from this Friendly Five radio show and I loved it to pieces! Thanks for posting.

  • THANKS!!!

  • DAMN that's a hot band!!! and Fred Rich takes a very nice (if extremely brief) piano break illustrating what Willie The Lion Smith meant when he called Fred Rich a good friend in his autobiography.

  • Very nice! Thanks for the video response!

  • I Love it also my kind of mu sic

  • Is anyone hearing Inspector Gadget? xXx

  • @curzmg I'm hearing that whoever wrote that theme must have heard this tune!!!

  • Oh, this number is just great! Thank you!

  • I love it!

    Franzi.

  • I can't let a great Fats Waller/Andy Razaf number pass by without a big thank you.

  • It would be great to hear more of the current 1931 dance tunes from this series!

  • Brilliantly energetic tune and arrangement, thank you!

  • "Zonky" -haven't heard it before. Wonder what the lyrics are?

  • McKinny's Cotton Pickers recorded it for Victor with lyrics, it's worth the effort, really great lyrics. Victor V-38118-B

  • Thanks for the tip--that is a great side. I'm having trouble parsing all the lyrics, translations anyone? The tune is great. I think the Inspector Gadget Theme owes a lot to it!

  • One of the most thrilling piano solos recorded by the composer for the Associated Transcription Service, "Zonky" emanated from Connie's Revue "Load of Coal" and was published by Santly Bros. in 1929. I have not heard the verse on any recording.

  • Grzegorz,

Did you know I get all my JUMPING JACK SHOES from the Jarman Shoe Company of Nashville, Tennessee? In fact I have 10 pair and I had to let them out of the SCHRANK because they went wild when they heard this SUPER HOT ZONKY SONG! Ooops, I think they danced over to your next video.....BYE!

  • hey G ,, That was womderful. Thanks. Hadn't heard of him before. Tune sure jumps fine.

I take it this was from a radio show judging by the announcments fore and aft.
