Very nice attempt. No one can really interpret what Miles, Chick, or Jack are doing here, but nice rendition. Good trumpet tone. The groove doesn't really hit until a couple minutes. Nice work beyond that. This is my favorite song, so maybe I'm being a bit nice. Valiant effort.
these loser comments on here trying to talk to you guys about understanding jazz and musicianship, creativity and expression, ect... they make me laugh in pitty because if they actually understood these things they would have never even thought to speak so egotistically towards others
really nice work guys i was hesitant at first with such a difficult style to explore but you've done great work with this... i especially love when it settles down in the middle and gets tribal... reminds me of what miles was doin with bitches brew....excellent.
great jazz should be left to great jazz players. try loving it more,,,its unformfortable...the rythme section like with most amatuer jazzz ,,,are missing the point,,, grooving,,,A young trumpet player asked MILES,"how can i be a better trumpet player,,,,Miles said " put more air thru your horn" its LACKING INSPIRATION (in spirit) dont give up, find more spirit,,, dont let the lower self distrakt you,,,YOURE ALL GENIUSES,,,find it ,dont fear it,,,,
Cool... I like Tim Hagans and when I first heard him I knew "he's listened to a LOT of Miles". But that's great.. and he brings his own stuff to the the game. He's got feel and taste - nice stuff.

Nice ensemble. Bob, can we ever get the Antibes 69 video (Lost Quintet)released in DVD form? There's one clip that surfaced here (AMAZING) and I didn't even know it existed. Maybe it could be boxed with the audio from both sets?
I was wondering if anyone knew what Miles used for his original electric setup. I know he used a mouthpeice pickup, and I am pretty sure he used a wah pedal, but I was wondering what kind of pedal.
Thanks for the info. Those pedals are pretty easy to find, but it's almost impossible to find specifics on what Miles used in his electric period even though there is so much written about that point in his career. Is this what he used for On The Corner and Live Evil too? That is some pretty crazy stuff but some of my favorites. Thanks.
Miles used the same equipment for his wah from start to finish. There is an interview that I cant recall who did it but its in a book that Miles around the "Fillmore Bartz" group that he didnt touch any of the other nobs on his equipment. Look up "Little High People" on the Jack Johnson Sessions. That's the FIRST time that Miles used the device. You can tell that with practice that Miles mastered the wah. Note the octave pedal on a few tracks too.
Uhmm...You can tell the difference when he has the harmon mute in or OUT when he is electrified.. I prefer it out, 'specially when he did "Turnaroundphrase" during the tunes infancy around May 1973(the tentet with Cosey, sublime.....). To let you know I'm 22 and a HUGE Miles fan and a trumpeter myself.
Friends, damn good music, what do you think?

... no groove. Why would you attempt the grooviest tune ever made if you're bass player can't groove?

@Roddeo29
Are you for real? Or just frustrated?
RareNoiseRecords 11 months ago
@RareNoiseRecords of course i'm for real. are you trying to tell me this bass player is grooving?
Roddeo29 10 months ago
@Roddeo29
I think the quality of the recording really does not do justice to the performance.

@Roddeo29
I also think Matt Garrison has a lot of groove
