It is more than just a love song. I do believe he originally wrote this about God. Anyway....has anyone noticed that he doesn't or hasn't sung the song the same live. There is one version done in 1994 and he doesn't hit the high notes like he did then. Still an amazing song....my fave by him.

@TheGodwarrior87 Hiyas. The 2 mics could be for 3 reasons. Peter is using wireless systems and they do sometimes act up. So the mic could be a backup. Also, this show is being recorded for Audio and Video so they might want 2 source mics for mixdown reasons. One mic might be a Cardiod and the other might be a hyper cardiod to reject off axis sounds. Also, I have recorded bands in the studio where the lead singer feels more "comfortable" holding the mic in his / her hands. So I set up 2.

If you ever get the chance to go see Peter Gabriel in concert, DO IT! In 20 years of going to concerts, I've been to few shows that were as entertaining and as satisfying as Gabriel's show. He and his musicians all seem to have a great time, all the time, while giving you 110% every time.

Lakshminarayana Shankar, the Indian violinist/vocalist (with a reputed five octave vocal range) did that part on the 1993 Secret World tour. Levin's voice gets down there but Shankar has huge presence, He's now known as Shenkar, by the way.

The bass voice singing "In Your Eyes" in the intro is a sample, mimed by one of the stage performers. This has always been a part of Gabriel's show for as long as they've been playing the song live. I don't consider it to be fakery, but rather part of "the show", and obviously the band is having some fun with it.

I've see every Gabriel tour since the 80s including twice on the last tour and although he does sound a little tired in this particular performance he still sounded great when I saw him. Watch him in videos from the Growing Up DVD . When I saw him on the Secret World tour I couldn't believe the energy he had and I'm 15 years younger than him.
