I have a lot of respect for the USMC, but honestly more than 70 % will not pass in the European Elite Forces just like Foreign Legion, SAS, Belgian Paracomando's, Royal Marines, . . . 1 example : The most dificult commando obstacle parcours of the world is that from the Foreign legion of France and was done in 45 minutes by the legionairs and more than 9 hours by the USMC. but respect for the USMC because they have a lot of combat experience !!!

@deputy1040 no they dont do the same jobs! army has more land based jobs and more logistics like Clothes washer, and water purification and shit. marines are more battle oriented, some logistics (office + supply) and then you have Air wing guys, and then you have sea expedition vehicles.
Rangers eat the shit so marines, sailors and seals dont have to........Thats why the Thundering Third invaded and took Fallujah head on, and seals killed bin laden, snuff pirates, and rescue pow's. Havent heard of rangers making huge headlines. Reguardless, we are all on the same team with the same mission: kill bad guys. I support all my brothers and sisters in arms.

@JackZeroZ I've had the pleasure of having our "airwing" Marines fire at Paris Island with Rangers. We had 2 fail to qualify out of 500, they had 2 qualify out of 100, and they only shot 200 and 300 yards, not the 200, 300, and 500 we did. In other words they sucked. I am sure there are other things they can be proud of, but that isn't one of them. I am however, extremely proud of my dad, a Vietnam vet, Green Beret. I became a Marine to keep up with him; maybe even "one-up" him.

@GeneralG1810 Most if not all volunteer for it and basically have to go through boot camp all over again. Have to be very squared away and a model Marine. A lot of Marines I met when I was in the Army in Hawaii say that they wanted to become a D.I. at some point in their careers, or those that never got a chance to wish they had. To them it's extremely honorable to pass their skills on to new recruits.

I say this as a former Marine (infantry) who had alot of exposure to solders stateside, in theater & in Germany while I was in. Since then I have conversed & 'compared notes' with a lot of Army infantry veterans since I have been out. Its not something you can adequately sum up to write on a YT post. They are 2 entirely different animals but can&do accomplish many of the same task.

I have a lot of respect for the USMC, but honestly more than 70 % will not pass in the European Elite Forces just like Foreign Legion, SAS, Belgian Paracomando's, Royal Marines, . . . 1 example : The most dificult commando obstacle parcours of the world is that from the Foreign legion of France and was done in 45 minutes by the legionairs and more than 9 hours by the USMC. but respect for the USMC because they have a lot of combat experience !!!

OK im going to put up my question up again, hoping that a MARINE can answer it. what can a marine do that an army soldier cant do? no one has been able to give me an answer yet. marines claim to be the toughest out there but the truth is that marines are over rated!!!! the army does the same jobs as marines, such as infantry, airborne, sniper, scouts, special forces.. by the way the army trains marines in airborne and marines go thru army ranger school where alot of marines FAIL to pass.

@JackZeroZ I've had the pleasure of having our "airwing" Marines fire at Paris Island with Rangers. We had 2 fail to qualify out of 500, they had 2 qualify out of 100, and they only shot 200 and 300 yards, not the 200, 300, and 500 we did. In other words they sucked. I am sure there are other things they can be proud of, but that isn't one of them. I am however, extremely proud of my dad, a Vietnam vet, Green Beret. I became a Marine to keep up with him; maybe even "one-up" him.

@GeneralG1810 Most if not all volunteer for it and basically have to go through boot camp all over again. Have to be very squared away and a model Marine. A lot of Marines I met when I was in the Army in Hawaii say that they wanted to become a D.I. at some point in their careers, or those that never got a chance to wish they had. To them it's extremely honorable to pass their skills on to new recruits.

@deputy1040 Actually there are lots and quite significant differences in: training, roles, purposes & capabilities. I say this as a former Marine (infantry) who had alot of exposure to solders stateside, in theater & in Germany while I was in. Since then I have conversed & 'compared notes' with a lot of Army infantry veterans since I have been out. Its not something you can adequately sum up to write on a YT post. They are 2 entirely different animals but can&do accomplish many of the same task.
