  • She can sing so good!

  • LOL dont be a dummy come with mummy SHES NOT THE ONE WHO STOLE A BABY!

  • you can really tell that shes not her mom since she says LOOK AT YOU, YOU THINK HES IMPRESSED! nice lieing

  • @bicuti3 o.o.....Then what happened when she said, "Then show him THIS!" O.o.... Did she fluff up her skirt?

  • @koko24x No.. she took out Repunzel's crown.

  • @danaka1nilsakirk I know that but I'm saying if it was representing her virginity....

  • @bicuti3 Ohhhh!!! That makes a lot of sense!!! Nice catch! :)

  • Its funny how in today's society the crown symbolizes the girl's virginity, get it?

  • I like this version and the first one equally. This one's darker, more straightforward, and more villain-esque, the instrument just send chills down my spine while the other one shows how Gothel torments Rapunzel and the song's whimsical and cheerful tone represents Gothel's fake sweetness.

  • @piperrox13 Ikr that's what I was thinking XD

  • that awkward moment when you think a video is a video but its just one picture...

  • "Look in that Mirror. Do you know what I see? I see a confident, strong, beautiful Young Lady...Oh look! You're here too!"

    "Don't be a Dummy"

    She's such a caring Mom.

  • Anyone wish Rapunzel was a real life human being? Shes cute when she was blonde and hot when shes brunette.

  • If I won the lottery, I would commission Alan Mencken to write a villain song just for me, with a fat bonus for writing a reprise. This was brilliant!

Good work Disney, for bringing him back and for getting Donna Murphy to sing Mother Gothel to life.

  • I listen to this almost every day... is that bad?

  • @AkzulSaulie1993 Ummm...if you like evil controlling mothers.

  • @AkzulSaulie1993 You're not the only one.

  • The context. The teens need it or they'll make dirty jokes.

Seriously. Listen to this song and try to forget they're talking about a piece of jewelery.

  • @SandvichEqualsTasty

    >_________> LOL...

  • @KaiKenNatsuki Just saying, man. XD

  • I seriously am in love with Donna Murphy's(Mother Gothel) voice. She's so much emotion: caring yet devious. Creepy and evil yet persuasive. It just gives shivers down ones's spine.

  • Such an awesome voice

  • Goddam i love mama gothel D:

  • this is the best movie ever (in this animation style) i will be proud to show this to my children :)

  • I love the "if he's such a dreamboat" part

  • If only Bellatrix had a doughter....

  • Just like my mother when talking about the guys XD

  • The crown is a metaphor for her virginity. XD

  • Anyone else notice that the image slowly warps?

  • Yeah, Gothel was a horrible, selfish woman, but...

Damn, she was hot in her youth. I can't quite blame her for going to such lengths to stay young.

  • @Furyaki12 I know right!! The people down at disney shouldn't have made Gothel so hot. I didn't even want her to lose at the end!

  • I love how at the end of this song, as Gothel sweeps away into the shadows, she takes the eerie fog - that appeared upon her entrance - with her.

  • She's so supportive of her 'daughter'

"I think he likes me" "You think he likes you, look at you..You think he's impressed?" D:

  • mother knows best

  • Totally heard this song before I saw the movie...and I was thinking

WTF DISNEY ARE YOU GUYS SINGING ABOUT O_O...then I saw the movie and was like...OOoooh XD

  • Gothel is a freaking ninja!

  • Tangled is my favorite disney movie EVER. If felt bad for Rapunzel. Her "mother" was sick.

  • Isn't Disney supposed to be, you know, non-scary?

  • tangled to i tunes

  • @HappyJohnnyInco If the kids aren't scared, they wont really believe the characters are in danger, and they wont care as deeply. It's basic storytelling, especially for kids movies ^-^

  • @HappyJohnnyInco do you not remember cruella deville(sp) one scene made me cry when I was little. She sacred me to death.

  • @HappyJohnnyInco have you seen disney movies?

  • @xtwilightsinx Of course I have!!!

  • Donna Murphy brought me to Tangled.

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaa who cartooned my mom????

  • My favorite part is when she says , "That's how fast he'll leave you." at 1:05

  • When she said 'I just listened for the sound of complete and utter betrayal and followed that" I was like...GlaDOS?! 0.o

  • MOTHAAAAAA KNOWSSS BEST! love the passion in her voice!

  • I love her singing!! My fav part is when she sings "and I won't say I told you so!"

  • first modern disneyfilm i loved in years:'( :)

  • "Likes you? Please, Rapunzel, that's demented."

Bit harsh from your mother, don't you think? xD (Yes, I know Gothel isn't Rapunzel's real mother, but Rapunzel doesn't know that yet.)

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the Stepmother's face gives you the creeps?????????????????????

  • @2000Tianyu no, im pretty scared aswell

  • I personally think this song is one of the best villian songs in my opinion next to a few others. I just think this song brings out the villian very well and that it's not cheesy. Donna Murphy's voice is just enchanting as mother Gothel I have to admit.

  • Donna Murphy's voice is really good and she sounds like mother gothel

  • @callicopup2007 How can she sound the real Mother Gothel if she is Mother Gothel.

  • @ 35 seconds, shit just got real lol

  • CHILLS CHILLS CHILLS CHILLS CHILLS O.O"

  • This is very Ursula.

  • BEST.REPRISE.EVER.EVER.EVER.EVER.EVER. '-'

  • When You hear a music change and an "No? Oh...I see how it is!" You know somethings about to start.

  • cool!!

  • Do you think that Rapunzel looked to young for her age?

  • @atlastpeace Then again she never went out in the sun or anything :3

  • I really like the english version, but it annoys me a bit how they pronounce "Rapunzel". But I think that's because I grew up with the fairytale

  • Why are the fake/step mothers always the villains 0.o

  • I love this part of the film! It's awesome!

  • Reasons why Gothel is the BADDEST DISNEY VILLAN EVAR! This bitcxh

    1) Broke into a castle and successfully STOLE A BABY PRINCESS!!!!!!

    2) Brainwashed her into believing she was her daughter.

    3) Locked the bitch in a tower for 18 years

    4) Straight rolled up on Flynn (On the sneak) and shanked him!!!! Prison yard style. O_o, my 7 yr lil sis was watching i was lyk "WTF DISNEY?!"...hahahahaha Gothel is a thug.

  • @Cabz2018 Unfortunately her "defeat and death" has to be the most pathetic one i've seen in a while. >_>

  • @ddrfreak805 How so?

  • @17caria Tripped out the window. Not poisoned, pushed off a cliff, stabbed, or whatever. Tripped over hair. -_-

  • @ddrfreak805 Actually no, if you watch, you see that she basically aged and disintegrated before she even hit the ground.

  • @fiervahl well technically, she kind of... poofed when she hit the ground; she tripped and fell, and her body turned to dust and bones on the way down. then she just poofed away:) it's kind of creepy watching it, but i like how she dies. it's more unique than other Disney ways of dying. kept alive for hundreds of years by the flower (then her hair), then the power is gone and she is all aged and nasty. and dies by falling out a tower!:D

  • @ddrfreak805 Ironic though..

  • @ddrfreak805 Are you kidding? Her death was pretty epic. The idea of rapidly aging, until all that is left of you is a pile of dust is the most disturbing scenes in any Disney movie,up there with the donkey transformation scene from Pinocchio.

  • @Cabz2018 lmao I am rolling at this comment

  • @Cabz2018 yeah man i take back what i said about her before, shes pretty awesome

  • @Cabz2018 the baddest is still Frollo, how about killing Quasi's mother ? brainwashed him thinking his has no other friend but him, locked quasi for 20 years, how about wanted to burn a women cause she makes him have a boner ?

  • "Go and put him to the test!"

    Rapunzel: The pregnacy test?

  • @muellersfrau i know right? she shouldve kept her white hair.

  • no oh i see how it is repunzel knows best repunzel's so mature now such a clever grown up miss repunzel knows best fine if your so sure now go ahead and give him this. this is why hes here dont let him decived you give it to him watch you'll see trust me my dear thats how fast he'd leave you i won't say "i told you" so no rapunzel knows best so if he's such a dream boat go and put him to the test and if hes lying dont come crying mother knows best!

  • This is my favorite song C: I know that sounds weird! But It gets stuck in my head so easily!

  • This is my favorite song from Tangled. I love it when she "That's how fast he'll leave you" :)

  • Lol when Gothel said: No?

You knew shit was about to go down.

  • @frozenkumiyumi28 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WORD!!!!! She even rolled up behind Flynn and shanked him...Prison yard style O_o, my 7 yr old sis was watching i was lyk WTF DISNEY?!?!?! hahahahaha....Most.Ganstah.Disney.Villan.EVAR!!!!!!

  • @Cabz2018 Lmaooo! I know right!! Straight beast! Gothel is the shiz! XD

  • chills EVERY time i hear this.

  • LOL the background is moving.... look at the beggining and then at the end XD

  • Donna Murphy's voice is absolutely AMAZING in this song.

  • @fiervahl Donna Murphy is friggin' awesome. An absolutely pitch-perfect performance throughout the entire movie. Her Broadway background really comes through & you know its only a matter of time before Disney puts this on stage.

  • @fiervahl It's called autotune

  • @majjuus What autotune? What exactly indicates to you that this is in any way, shape, or form, autotuned? I really doubt that the engineers would autotune Donna Murphy's voice; she's a celebrated stage actress who actually knows how to sing. This isn't Glee, it's an animated Disney musical. There's a -long- tradition of real, genuine vocal performances in these movies. I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

  • @majjuus its called talent.

  • ...i like this version better than the other one..

  • This scene made me so mad! I wanted to climb through the screen and punch her square in the face.

  • Mother Gothel's a very interesting disney villain; she's threatening yet disarming like Ursula from the Little Mermaid. Instead of wanting Ariel's voice, she exploits Rapunzel for her hair. She's a true disney 'anti-mother'.

  • Gothel looks and acts exactly like my own mom but I still love this song.... it's intense

  • @koolpllsaywhat:

i've seen the movie a billion times. it's obvious she kept it under the stairs. herp derp. i'm talking about the fact that gothel gives rapunzel the satchel, right? so between then and when she gives it back to eugene, where does she keep it?

  • mother knows best, take it from you mumzy!

  • ok so when did gothel get a license in psychiatry to tell rapunzel thats it dimented?! she knows nothing bout love she been around 150-300+ years and still aucks at romance...

  • no oh i see how it is repunzel knows best repunzel's so mature now such a clever grown up miss repunzel knows best fine if your so sure now go ahead and give him this. this is why hes here dont let him decived you give it to him watch you'll see trust me my dear thats how far he'd leave you i won't say "i told you" so no raounzel knows best so if he's such a dream boat go and put him to the test and if hes lying dont come crying mother knows best!

  • @koolpllsaywhat you got some of the lyrics wrong O___o

  • @luv4alwayz my fingers hit the wrong buttons on some like raounzle i meant to put rapunzle so yeah i know

  • @koolpllsaywhat wrong again :) you wrote "that's how far he'd leave you" when actually its "that's how fast he'll leave you.." it makes more sense too if you think about it for a second :)

  • @luv4alwayz i know i messed up SORRY

  • @koolpllsaywhat its ok :) you just need to listen to it a little bit more..

  • @luv4alwayz i knowwwwww

  • @luv4alwayz here i fixed it - no oh i see how it is repunzel knows best repunzel's so mature now such a clever grown up miss repunzel knows best fine if your so sure now go ahead and give him this. this is why hes here dont let him decived you give it to him watch you'll see trust me my dear thats how fast he'd leave you i won't say "i told you" so no rapunzel knows best so if he's such a dream boat go and put him to the test and if hes lying dont come crying mother knows best!

  • @koolpllsaywhat there ya go :)

  • I love that powerhouse note for the "mother" in the last line. Donna Murphy is so great!!

  • Going by the lyrics it kinda sounds like Rapunzel is giving him her virginity rather than a crown

  • @Yoshi3006 Hey, it might be a metaphor for that...

  • @Yoshi3006 Well, Disney movies always have different levels of reading, that's why they're pieces of art and why they are for the whole family :)

  • @Yoshi3006 Show when she sings, "go ahead & give him THIS, THIS is why he's here", you hear vagina?

  • @MrAp0calypse No, out of context is what he means

  • @MrAp0calypse Well, in earlier versions of the fairy tale, Rapunzel got pregnant after the prince's frequent visits to her tower, and the witch soon found out and cast her out of the tower, so...

  • @queenbluebonnet so...Earlier versions of this particular adaptation, or an adaptation from some time ago? Either way..She's not pregnant in THIS one.

  • @MrAp0calypse The original fairy tale, as in the story written by the Grimm Brothers. I know she doesn't get pregnant in this one. I've seen it one too many times. Haha.

  • @Yoshi3006 symbolism ^_~ it's a nifty thing.

  • @Yoshi3006 i know right lol

  • @Yoshi3006 lol true. °_°

  • @Yoshi3006 You know though that there is a version of the Rapunzel story where Rapunzel gives to the prince who finds her up in the tower her virginity and they have a child together... :)

  • i like how there's a hair loss vid in the related section

  • i love this film so much i watch it all day but have 3kids so get away with it lol

  • i also thought how flyn did not hear this lol

  • i want to know where rapunzel keeps flynn's satchel........

  • @katizzleBObizzle in the tower "mother" found it if you watched the movie you would know that

  • "Why would he like you, come on nowreally? Look at you!"

    Oh, motherly love!

  • Disney, you couldn't have put a little more effort into that song?

  • Motherrr 'NO' I see how it is, Repunzel knows best, Repunzels so mature now, Such a clever grown up Ms!! Best part:D I <3 TANGLED, I am watching it now, JEALOUS lol:)

  • I wanna do that cape vanishing trick XD

  • "Don't be a dummy" so harsh

  • whenever i hear this without the pics, when she says this is why hes here! shes pointing to rapunzels boobs. :3 lol

  • No, no, no. GLaDOS knows best.

  • @TakoshidaEpikShinxz I'm guessing I wasn't the only one who heard a little GLaDOS in Gothel? xD

  • @TakoshidaEpikShinxz ROFL! You just made my day.

  • Go ahead and give him this (HA)!

  • I love Mother Gothel's singing parts. I would LOVE to sing that in a musical.

  • @Janiemanie1993 i agree with you i love her singing =]

  • She should have done the end in a high voice

  • @TaleSpinTV1990 I think the lower note with the tone makes it more threatening.

  • I literally just finished watching this. I love this movie. Quite violent actually--brings back good memories of older Disney movies. I would definitely watch this movie again.

  • This bitch looks like Cher

  • I said it once and I'll say it till I die...this is my mother animated...except for the you know...evil part! :)

  • What a voice

  • my friends said it could also be taken as a hidden message for her virginity...really listen to it for a sec..

how if she gives it to him he'll leave and he's only there because of this thing..

haha i told her she was weird but it actually makes sense :P

  • I just re-enacted this scene with my dog, using her toy in place of the crown. And it was perfect.

  • @thatonegirludontknow LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • She has such an amazing voice :)

  • Flynn must be completely deaf...and if my mother did that...well, let's just say that I would go deaf. Chinese parents aren't exactly the best at singing ><

  • @Courtlyn15 My mom does... it's not as fun as it sounds.... -.-"

  • @ynaxixala Mine too...and she does it in public...She has no shame, but I do. *sigh*

  • @incomparableDEC5 Something tells me that our mother's either are or could be really close friends...

    ....

  • how many times have i replayed this song today? ....*ponders*

enough to have memorized every lyric by heart ♥

  • When I have children... and they start rebelling or acting out... I shall sing this song. And weird them out so much they'll forget why they were arguing in the first place :D

  • @Adonvara I second that. =D

  • Her voice is godly.
