@AutumnSplendors I think you're so right about Doris. She had a personality that just exploded on the screen. As her first director Michael Curtiz said .. she had it. The camera loved her. I think she did try to live her life as happily as she could .. and she had a lot to overcome. But as Terry said - she's great at moving on. Thank goodness she did. She's contributed so much to entertainment and the animal world. Her work for animal welfare is what I admire most ! Thankyou !!

My second favorite song from the great "Latin for Lovers" album. Miss Day is sexy and the music smolders with a satiny-latiny feel. Thanks for sharing!!
Yes, I think we know the rest, but just in case....Doris still has that pin in her leg ankle to knee. All the fancy footwork we have seen her do onscreen has been done with her leg artificially held together. It's one more thing that makes her absolutely amazing!
I know -- isn't that amazing ?! And I always think what a thrill it must have been for her to finally get to dance - to fulfill her dream. I read on internet bio's that she wanted to be a "ballet" dancer - she didn't do ballet - she and Jerry did tap routines. Don't know where that ballet thing came from...but it always maked me want to say NO .. thats not right !!
Thank you .. always an interesting comment from you !!
Dayniac! I found an awesome song of hers on her Love Album - it's called 'For All We Know". Have you ever heard it? You probably have. It's really good isn't it?
I LOVE the love album !! Yes they're all great songs. I tried to do a video using a couple of them - but - yt won't accept them. She did this album after ending her Columbia contract - hired a recording studio and orchestra - did it herself ! and then it was lost in her garage for many years ! Her son Terry found it and produced it. I really do love it - listen to it all the time !! Thanks !!
Thanks Petra- this is a great song from the Latin For Lovers album. Of course - I think all her songs are wonderful !! Know what I mean ? Hope you have a great day!!
Tremendous last pic with end credits superimposed Toni. She was so very special, and no one's come close since. Great song & clip - 5 very enjoyable stars!
Also if she just starred in mgm musicals then she might have been just stuck there and then might have not seen her dramatic parts or comedies but then she could have been in a few mgm musicals. I also wish that she starred in films a little earlier like in the early 40s,mid 40s or even a year earlier than she actually did then she could have been a 40s,50s and 60s actress i would have liked her to dance in a couple of more films though just to show she's a brilliant dancer.
I know she must have been THRILLED to dance in films since that was her first love. But as you say - aren't we lucky she began to sing - because she has the best voice out there. Hope you're having a great weekend !!
I seem to recall seeing a movie many years ago on TV that I believe starred Doris Day, and there was a scene where she was the hostess of a party but the zipper on her dress was stuck just as it was about to begin. Her boyfriend (husband?) was trying to help her out, and I believe the dialogue went something like:
DD: "Is it stuck?"
BF: "It's not stuck."
DD: "That's good"
BF: "It's jammed."
Do any of you know this at all? Maybe it wasn't a Doris Day film...
I'm not familiar with that scene. I don't think it's a Doris Day movie. But - we might need to ask others - I'm not crazy about Caprice or Where Were You When the Lights Went Out - So I'd have to watch them again to make sure its not from one of them. So - I don't think its Doris but not sure !
I really wish doris starred with gene kelly, fred astaire etc as i actually think she is just as good a dancer as anyone else that got classed as a dancer i even think doris is better than some of them. I know doris at the start wanted to be a ballerina and what a beautiful ballerina she would have made but then in a way way we've got to be thankful that she was a singer as her voice is like heaven and like no other. .
Hi Toni, Thank you very much for sending another lovely video of Doris to me. I always find it very regretful that Doris didn't made a few dance films with MGM. She could have danced with Fred Astaire or with Gene Kelly. I would love that. But I like her dancing with Gene Nelson and so we have to treasure those films and deam about of what might have been... Have an nice sunDay. And Thank you again!
Hi Peter -- I have to agree - too bad she only made one MGM musical. I'm sure her musicals would have been much better had she been under contract to MGM instead of Warners. But as always - she put her all into those films and as you say we have them to enjoy. She really was a wonderful dancer - have to agree - to see her dance with Astaire of Kelly would have been sublime ! Hope you're have a wonderful sunDay too !
Brilliant song written by my good friend Barry Parker, who also wrote, This Love Of Mine, Your Love For Me and Tell Her You Love Her. This is Doris at her best. Thank you.
doris day was certainly multi-talented as a singer, then also a movie actress -- and probably could have been a dancer, too! five stars on this nice video, and thanks for the incredible profile information about her -- that's ALOT of work!!
Hi Toni Thanks for sending this. I also have this song posted on my channel as an instrumental. Doris does a fantastic job on this song I just love it.
