emo and metal have nothing to do with each other at all. absolutely nothing. however, saying that screamo is hardcore emo is a fallacy in and of itself seeing as how emo was an evolution of hardcore punk in the first place (hardcore punk ie: black flag, coke bust, bane, etc). screamo was simply a further evolution of emo, not "hardcore emo".

emo was originally short for Emotive Hardcore... the media adopted it for music that was overly emotional.. which doesnt make sense anyway, because if music doesnt have emotion in it then its a lie and a farce.. like new green day. the word emogets a bad wrap because people dislike he mainstream mtv bands associated with the word, which i understand. but at the same time, 10 years ago grunge and other genres were in the same light as emo is now. so fuck it, listen to what you like
