wayyyy over dramatic and people are blasting. know the difference between playing loudly and with a good tone. cause just blasting sounds awful. which this does.
Clarinets are doing the opposite of what they should be. D: Be louder with tone on the low notes, and quieter and controlled on the high notes. Good job other than that though. I remember playing this piece. :)
The acoustics of the theater are a bit strange. During the french horn soli its like the held notes died or something the trumpets are very overdominant and the whip is echoing too loudly and Mirals is right, it sounds too bright.
i questioned many of the sounds i heard. this is a wonderful piece (my college band is playing this), but i'm not sure it's right for this ensemble...trumpets are far too bright. flute (and others): please listen and tune. tubas: don't overplay your horn. can't sense dynamics or balance among the various sections...everything is just way too bright...emphasize dynamics, tone quality, and balance, this piece would probably be just fine for this band...oh and great job bass clarinets!!! :-)
My school got 1rst in everything in music in teh parks 2008
i really liek the flutes here, even thiugh they are out of tune sometimes...they had great tone. but yes, the trumpets wer eloud, but othe rthan that teh band was great.
haha yes. i myself am a bullheaded trumpet player and i agree--the trumpets are wayy over the top. the brass in general actually. too much overblowing. the whole band needs to tune as well...
Not only the brass being slightly out of tune, they shouldnt have played that loud. F Horns 3 + 4, baritones and trumbones blared their solos for some reason.
I heard a few squeaks here and there, but nothing really noticeable. Tuba was fine, especially considering a last minute switch. Overall, this is a great performance--much better than in my county band concert in 1991.
Good job, Clarinets were brave( but if this were a college band they would have drawn critiques for their extremely shrill upper register... flutes are up there too so no need to kill yourselves) I played this song on contra it rocks, one of the best contra parts I have ever played!!! Overall great job for a high school band!!! Oh and the Clarinets definately got you guys the most spirited award, lol!!!
tuba player, learn the tuba

Ew no.
The clarinet players are way to squeaky.
Especially at 3:32.
They're blowing to hard when it comes to the high notes.
Loosen up the embechure. (spelling?)
I know the notes are high, but darken the sound.
Damn.

I'm a third clarinet.
This piece is amazing.. but I'm not quite sure this band is..

the trumpets need to relax and not be so tense, most of the time they sound really closed and tense, and even bright.

is it just me or is the tuba tonguing too harsh when it comes in around 1:00?
