Can't believe how much effort rick and his team go to to make these videos totally awesome, understandable and informative. So glad I bought my 24.4.2!!!
How do you go about recording the final stereo mix? When you record the main stereo out of the board, does it print the sound exactly as it sounded through the mixer with the FX, EQ, and Dynamics? When you record using the main stereo output do the faders on each individual channel actually change the level of each channel on the final stereo audio file and how does the main output fader come into play? It would be greatly appreciated if someone was to answer these questions. Thanks!
@JoseVillaDrums Jose, I imagine that you can select if the signal is pre of post eq/fx per channel, in the phonic universal 24, you can do that, so I you should read the data sheet of the board to see from what point of the chain you can take the signal. Good luck
Great help, I recently installed one of these for recording and live performance, I'll be starting project soon . Having never used this console or software before this video was very usefull !!! thank you!
WOW!!! Love the recall method!!! I was thinking it would be awesome to have motorized faders.. but this is AWESOME!!! feel like using a SSL or Neve...
How many fader session recalls can be saved on the mixer?
Can they be saved on the capture software and sync'd manually that way?
Can they be recalled from fader levels on software such as cuebase?
Say i wanted to mix on the mixer (using recorded source coming from cuebase). If i changed the fader level on the mixer it would not change the fader level in cuebase? does this mean i would have to re-record the track through the mixer onto cuebase to have it alter the volume level in cuebase?ty
I read this records in 32-bit format. So if I'm tracking into my DAW does it dither down to 24-bit or does it just automatically truncate the audio? Thanks.
It really depends on your computer and hard drive, etc.. There's no technical 'limit'. I've recorded 48 tracks for about 90 minutes several times and didn't have problems. If you are going to record really long periods of time, make sure you have plenty of ram.
I'm recording 18 tracks 44.1khz 24 bit on a 2ghz intel core 2 duo. It has a 1tb hard drive and 2gb of memory. Would you suggest upping the ram or is 2gb sufficient? Also, we noticed every time we turned the board off, the board reset the firewire link settings
theres no reason they cant make this a CONTROL SURFACE.... cheap controllers can do it with sliders etc. its software based... so. perhaps they will consider this in updates... but I dont mind buying a faderport..... but still cant see why this cant be done
I first saw this at sam ash today and got to play with it hands-on. It's very sturdy and within minutes I felt like I could navigate and use the board cold turkey. Definitely more appropriate for a live setting, I could spend 2k on better equipment if it were strictly for in-the-studio use.
after watching all this stuff, and then looking at my setup (needing the mic inputs badly) I'm sold! This thing will prove it's use in the studio and in live situations under my control.
I'm a french musician, sorry for my writting english, but all your video are simple and give me, definitevely, a reason too "adopt" the Presonus Studio Live for my band ! The explications are clearly, simple, and however my little english comprehension level, i have understood all what you say. Thanks a lot, for all.
rick ive seen so many of your blogs i feel like we are best friends. i want this board, and im pumped about studio one and your personal relationship with your customers, that speaks volumes being your a VP
why did u move the faders manually? i didn't understand what was said -- is it to save the motors? i have a mackie board and i just let the DAW move them all, no prob...

The last line in the previous post should say ' the actual volume level in cuebase (not the cuebase fader position)'
thanks

this is great for live, bands who prefer to record their practices or live in studio, or the studio itself with any DAW. its not just for live use.
