Lol, anyone else think the shuttle crash due to an evil parasitic alien is reminiscent of the movie Species? The exact same thing, only in Species they went to Mars. They land, find something they don't understand, take it with them and it takes over the astronauts. Ofcourse, that's where all comparison stops but still. I grew up with the rise of Venom as Spiderman villain, so this is by far one of my favourite episodes :D

This was the greatest 3 part episode of the series. I really wish the symbiote wasn't evil tho because this Black suit Spider-Man was a beast. Damn this, Batman TAS and X-Men TAS were the greatest cartoons ever created (so many childhood memories). I was born in '87 so don't get upset if u were a He-Man, Ninja Turtles, Thunder Cats or Transformers fan (those were good too).

@mollebjornen I get your point, although Carnage and Venom are nothing alike, maybe this series didn't express it as clearly, but they are night and day. Carnage is one of the few people in the Marvel universe who are actually evil; not just an antagonist, but evil for the sake of being evil, and a total lunatic. While Venom was never evil in any way, nor was he aligned with the "bad guys". He is one of the most neutral characters in the franchise, and a good example of an "anti-hero" character.

King Pin is who I always though was missing from the spiderman movies. They should have had him secretly pulling the strings behind everything that happened, then make one more movie that ended with him fighting Spiderman. Then make the reboot with the Alex Ross story, the 2099 one, or the noir one. That what would have happened if I was in charge of making the movies.

@MIKESOWELL Not as odd as you might think. When the movies were released Kingpin was already moving over to be more of a Daredevil villain then Spiderman's. In the comic books, he starts to gradually fade from the spiderman universe and appear more frequently in daredevil. I believe they felt a crimelord posing as a businessman didn't feel like something they wanted a superhero to fight. And with Murdock's job as a lawyer, that proved far more interesting.

(continued from previous comment) For example, take this episode in which Spider-Man gets the alien symbiote. This took place in Secret Wars # 8 (that is a whole other story!) in 1984, whereas Venom did not make his first appearance until Amazing Spider-Man # 299 in 1988. By watching this episode it would seem that Venom made his appearance immediately after Spidey first got the alien costume. The Secret Wars story that is done on here also is not until the final season. I could go on and on.

One of the only major problems I ever had with this show (because this was one of my favorite shows growing up) is the glaring continuity errors that are usually present. Unfortunately for me, I have long been a collector of many of the Spider-Man comic books going back to the early days and, therefore, am aware of all the discrepencies in the timeline that are present in the animated series. Spiderman has a very interesting history. I learned where Stan Lee got his idea for Spiderman. He saw a fly on the wall and thought about what it was like. He went through names, "Flyman, Bugman, Mosquitoman, Spiderma-, that's it!" The comic was denied it's own comic originally because of these thoughts from the publisher: 1. People hate spiders. 2.
