This is absolutely amazing. And the fact that it's all just one program is even more mind blowing. Awesome job. Keep it up; you've got some real skill.
very very good very bjork/matmos-esque and surprisingly warm sounding, ok that's it Micron it is...[over the microkorg, in my multi-week purchase debate]
im speechless mate! WELL done! I've seen all your Alesis Micron videos and they're just greaT! i will buy one soon (when i get 400$), and i'm kind of begginer in the synth world. So, do you recommend it?
I first heard this not long after you first uploaded it, and two years on I still think that this is one of the most beautiful synth originals on Youtube. You signed to Warp? You could be ;-)
Hey dude this is really awesome. I've been taking your advice and i've been reading the manual. However I have a question i was hoping you can help me with. I don't understand what they mean in the manual when they are talking about the twelve modulation routes. How the heck do you use these or what are they?
The modulation matrix allows a "destination" parameter to be modulated by some sort of source. For example the over all pitch of a sound can be modulated by LFO 1 to create a vibrato effect, FM amount can be modulated by an envelope to create sweeping effects, or FM amount can be key-tracked so the FM amount increases with the pitch of the key pressed and vice versa. Some times it is tricky but it is straight forward for the most part. All of the sources and destination parameters...
the modulation routes are twelve instances where you can have a modulator ( a LFO, Envelope Generator, velocity, aftertouch, keytracking....) affect a certain parameter. For example you can assign Envelop generator 3 to effect the FM amount parameter. Hope this helps.
Friends have told me this is a complicated synth. Was this a complicated "program" to make? I'd love to do stuff like this but I am at the level of absolute beginner when it comes to electronics. But it seems like this is the one to buy if interested in this kind of sound.
Hello, i watched all your videos, and this one is the best. The melody is very nice. I will be getting Micron soon, i love ambient type of music. Very good++++++++++++++++
I'm sure some of these sounds can be made, maybe none as complex. The micro korg seems to be oriented towards techno/ trance where the micron has no clear orientation all though there are many possibilities to emulate vintage synthesizers. The micron is definitely the most diverse synthesizer on the market in the price range. Its sounds very unique, it has a warmth and organic sound that i have never experienced on other va's
If at all possible. Can you explain exactly how you made this setup? I am confused with my Micron. I understand the splits and everything, but am confused about alot of other stuff. Hit me up please!! I would love to make some sweet stuff like this soon
i don't know whether to get this or the MicroKORG. Any tips? It would be my first synthesizer, so don't bother recommending a 10K modular synth to me.
this is a shit ton better than micro korg! are you used to vst synths? id reccomend familiarising yourself with all the synthesis terms on software, and buy the micron.
failing that, the micro kork will be a lot easier to pick up and start programming your own patches
From what I hear, the MicroKorg has a few problems with it, not too sure on the specifics. But form many comments on videos, most MicroKorg users wish they could switch once they see exactly what this amazing synth can do. I have one myself, and am a proud owner!
The Micron's cheaper right now and supposedly a lot better: the keys are normal size in comparison to the Microkorg, and it has better quality sounds [though it does have less knobs: there's a menu system that's supposedly a bit frustrating, though when I was fooling with it at Guitar Center I didn't have a problem]. The microKorg does have a good vocoder, though, so if you were planning on using the vocoder you may want to look into it.
Deep, loungy and elegant, liked it here. One more reason for me to buy a Micron. I have made an auction on ebay for 240 € and hope to get this little piece of synth!
You have to initialize the sound yourself by undoing all of the parameters. The Default sound has some Mod's its not completely initialized. Id say if you can initialize the synth manualy, you understand how to control the the entire synth.
Yea thats what i though, and by that i have learned everything on this synth, well almost. i just hate how it only has 3 assignable knobs. ahh it really gets me
This is absolutely amazing. And the fact that it's all just one program is even more mind blowing. Awesome job. Keep it up; you've got some real skill.

is it hard to program a rhythm in micron? is it arpeggiator ?

Ditto on the Boards of Canada. Settings please. :-)
I'd like to get the same sounds out of my Micron. I try, but fail. :-)
You can hear some stuff with factory setups on my channel, but I want to get more into making my own sounds, and then songs from them.

@nurzahr The microkorg may be easier to use and have a better vocoder, but the depth of the sounds the Micron has, IMHO, just destroys the MicroKorg.

I agree, this has a mellow Boards of Canada feel to it, haunting, gentle, precise, moody, moonishly crowning all the suspenseful thimble dawns.

Very nice tune, I would lose the Clap, it seems a bit cheezy.. Otherwise well worthy of a movie soundscore.
