I can't believe some of you guys. This is a game. It was designed to be fun. Why all the argument over whether PA or freestyle is better? It makes no difference, play the game the way it's most fun to you and carry on with your own life.
If not for seeing this video back in 2005 I wouldn't have given BEMANI games a second glance. I daresay this video, along with LISU's V tatsujin in IIDX, made me the gamer I am today.
This is what got me and my friends into DDR - learning how to freestyle. Used to download so many of these videos.
Sorry to say it but the reputation of this game was ruined when it stopped being about fun and showmanship and it started to be dominated by nerds who only cared about getting high scores on difficult songs no matter what it looked like.
Throw in a fucking knee drop or something for the crowd.:(
@Napstrpsx I disagree. The REAL nerds are the one who got into this freestyle thing. The game wasn't made for this so this freestyle stuff was invented by DDR nerds who failed to realise that in actuality these routines were NERDY. If you wanna dance, LEARN to dance for real, meet some bboys or poppers & get into the real scene! Notice how he got the the biggest cheers for POPPING moves (done badly & would get no respect from real poppers).
@djhabibi04 The thing is most people, yourself included wouldn't have gotten into freestyle if it wasn't for dancegames. The biggest embarrasment is cringing on your past and pretending it was a waste of time. I'd say DDR was one of the most productive times as it motivated so many well known dancers to learn to pop and bbboy.
Legend has it that he forgot the last part of the routine so he just DID THE FUCKING WORM. I remember reading on something on DDRFreaks to that effect.
Rest in peace, DJ 8-Ball.

Playing for score gave us 100,000x better players, and the game was already on a downhill slope.

To me, there is nothing more fun than getting a perfect attack on a ridiculously hard song.
