well, they will finally tax it, so the price would go up in theory. but if a little more money needs to be paid to stop the arrests....seems worth it. tax payer is paying far more to throw pot smokers in jail!!!
well, i get your point but in order to grow it well you still need fertilizer and man hours to tend to the plants. so, even if you can lower the costs, there will always be costs of some sort.If we don't offer to pay them some tax on it, they may never make it legal again. the powers that be want to make their money no matter what...so taxing to me seems a compromise. it becomes legal, they make some money, we end the cost of the drug wars!
"Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded." ~ Abraham Lincoln December, 1840

any item will cost money. even if you end up being able to grow it at home, there is still the cost of growing.

true but at $30 an oz as opposed to $300-$400 an oz, it would be virtually free.

not if you store your own rainwater. There is no cost whatsoever in that case, assuming someone gave you a seed.
I personally think people should not settle for a taxed product that just substitutes the government for the dealer.
Rather than forced to be dependent consumers, everyone should have the freedom to grow.
Taxing is just a lesser form of slavery. Just my opinion and everyone has their own opinion.
