I would say that would be really fun but why at age 13. I was shooting 243's,30-30's and 30-06's at age 9 but still I would of rather of shot an ar 3 years later instead of just deer rifles
I used my dads m4 when i was 13. i loved to shoot that gun. but i hated the deep thud noise it makes after u fire it. it wont stop ringing in your ears.
you should have seen me when i was 13! I'm 16 now and i've trained with the AR platform, AK's, G3 and MP5. And they're select fire-just if you were wondering :)
a bit of advice for the kid, tell him to lean forward. He's got an improper stance.
Nice job. Train them when they're young. I like how the video shows a responsible young man exercising control over his weapon. Good job both father & son! :)
@elvis633 i'm sorry thats bullshit, unless you were shooting his legs and arms all day you would be able to kill any man with 2 shots from a .223, its called aiming, shoot the heart, lungs, kidneys, head......anywhere in the chest and he wont be standing much longer
With the problem of Ak vs Ar the solution is simple.. The Springfield M1A. It is far more accurate than the AR and has hella more power than the AK. Now if our military could become proficient with the .308 round we would have an unstoppable ground force like back in WW2. Yes, I know that in WW2 we used the 30-06 and in my opinion is the best round ever devised. If anyone knows where to get a socom 16 in 30-06 holla back.

Damn straight keep the 2nd amendment and the nra running. To anyone if you are a gun owner and are not a member and contributor to the nra you should climb aboard.
Quit arguing guys. Pick your tool for the job. If you are just plinking and target shooting like this, who cares if its a 5.56, or a 22LR? We aren't at war (not stateside at least). I wouldn't wanna get hit with a 5.56x45 or a 7.62x39mm, or anything really. I carry JHP's in my glock 19 for everyday carry and I keep 12gauge with buckshot next to the bed. If shit gets heavy I do keep my AR15 next to twenty 30rd mags, loaded.. Not that I wouldn't use an AK, it's just what I have an i like it.
little man, instead of opening the action to see if the bolt picked up a round or not, rather look at the magazine before you insert it into the gun, take note of which side the round is on, if its on the left, load the rifle, then take the magazine out real quick, the top round should be on the right now, if not.....your rifle is still empty, this method can be used at night too : ) feel around
@marquimarkflores this is why you see greater penetration from the 7.62x39 than from the 5.56x45. 5.56x45 tends to tumble when it comes in contact with human tissue. this can tear a large cavity in tissue and cause substantial blood loss.
@marquimarkflores clearly you're very "up" on the tactical stuff, but I'm not sure that you're going to be preforming a press-check in combat....much more indicative of an admin or static reload. When ur in a firefight, that weapon is going to be back into action asap, no press check. You fix it if it doesn't go bang when you pull the trigger.
@marquimarkflores i work my bolt actions the same way, i think its very practical,
and it really is so nice to see a young man be taught the right way to shoot in such a way, and especially with his pappy. hell be slapping that steel faster than you one day!
@lavid2006 "take the magazine out, real quick" - are you serious? Load the weapon and then unload it? I don't know where you were trained but you're entitled to refund. In all my life, I have never heard anybody recommend unloading a weapon to prepare it for discharge. Of course, I say this in the context of combat or competition. Why else would it be critical? Certainly not for casual shooting - when you would simply charge the weapon. Sorry; instruction FAIL.
2,059 joules=7.62x39 and for 5.56x45=1,679joules lol you were wrong. And with an m4 it could take up 12 shots to take down someone saying there well built. And with an ak 47 it could be 2 to the chest. Believe me ive seen this.
@marquimarkflores@marquimarkflores ft. lbs. energy isn't everything people. not being disrespectful to you flores i just want to start todays lesson on ballistics. 7.62x39 stays pretty stable in flight, even when passing through human tissue. the bullet is on average twice as heavy as a 5.56 cal. bullet. it also isnt flying as fast. 2 factors that help it maintain stability in flight and through targets.
@marquimarkflores this is why you see greater penetration from the 7.62x39 than from the 5.56x45. 5.56x45 tends to tumble when it comes in contact with human tissue. this can tear a large cavity in tissue and cause substantial blood loss.
@marquimarkflores 5.56 also tends to yaw and fragment better because of the extreme velocities it puts out. not many rifle rounds are very effective unless they:
A 7.62x39 that passes through the victim without doing A, B, or C is comparable to a non-hollow point pistol caliber.
Both rounds can be very deadly, and both can impart hydrostatic shock. I won't get into that subject though, because it will take way too long. look it up.
Remember, energy in terms of ft. lbs. isn't everything, in fact, its only part of what makes a caliber potent.
M4 is a carbine m16 is full size. The video is of what would be considered a m4 carbine in the military. But any civilian designed weapon(usually made in semi auto) is given a different designation than that of the military counterpart.

Here is what his father does.....
I pull the charging handle back a tad reach underneath and around into the chamber with my finger to feel the brass.
That way I never have to take my eyes away from "the threat" at hand, it is a very quick, and silent action.
This method is much better than standing there looking at your mag with an empty weapon in your hand ;)

Foot pounds of energy of the 7.62 and 5.56 are about the same though the damage inflicted tends to be greater with the faster lighter bullet.
Accuracy is another factor as is the greater amount of ammo that can be carried.

Boy I knew better than to open this can of worms. Let's just say My AR is Not an M4 and will do sub moa all day.
