Its hard to sympathize with someone who would do that to themselves, but in this man's case it seems like at the very least he has realized he has a problem and actually wants to help himself. I've seen numerous specials about super morbidly obese people, and many of them are still in great denial about what they have done to themselves. This man at least seems to want to get better, that is the first step.

Yeah, it would get rid of some of the fat (though they could never get all of it), bit it wouldn't change his eating/lifestyle habits. He'd gain it all back. If any surgery could help him, it would be gastric bypass with massive lifestyle changes. Liposuction is a completely useless surgery.
