  • such a beautiful song

  • beautiful

  • No no :C I don't like this version T-T

  • oh my god, i can hear the saliva in his meat mouth! /gag

  • @g2020, I was making a comment on the artist as a whole not just this one song, the fact it's a Daniel Johnston cover is irrelevant, this just happened to be the video I was watching when I heard of Mark's passing. I'm sorry if you weren't able to understand that.

  • this song breaks my heart - in the best way....

  • restless souls... me

  • dose anyone have the chords for this?

  • @wolfeman323232 look it up fool

  • @iceybleu lol i couldnt find them on ultimate guitar :P

  • @wolfeman323232 then you're just gonna have to figure it out ;)

  • @wolfeman323232 Have you tried with rejectedunknown? :) Think you should be able to find some songs there. Or on the forums on hihowareyou :)

  • Sparklehorse /Flaming Lips, & Daniel Johnston... (it really doesn't get much better). RIP Sparklehorse leader Mark Linkous, (& ty MLL). "Here we are on this planet, taking everything for granted..."

  • Thanks

  • Mark Linkous, Sparklehorse, not David Johnston...

  • @chzzzburger11 DANIEL Johnston!

  • @heyjude97 Sorry, I was really drunk.

  • @chicomendez91 He's dead. Like, dead, dead.

  • he is not dead...

why are people saying he killed himself?

  • @chicomendez91 He killed himself. A year ago to this date. (March 6th)

  • i was totally not surprised when this guy killed himself. his music is so depressing

  • mark was the first artist i've ever felt true sorrow and emotion for after a death. he definately changed my life. in fact i felt so home with the lyrics that i felt we are connected.. i love you mark

  • @verveline22 same, first artist's death I've ever felt true sorrow and emotion for. I somehow feel like I'm connected to him and I've lost a friend.

  • i can't find this song anywhere!!!!

  • This is just stunning . The song bringed me to tears..

Mark Linkous , you are not forgetted.

  • This is so beautiful

  • ....stunning........

  • Wonderful song

    R.I.P Mark

  • i love Daniel Johnston's music, but when he lets artists who have "dont hate me for saying this" better delivery of the content its a thing of beauty

  • where is this from?

  • @thesachincroker A Daniel Johnston tribute album called, from memory, "The Late, Great Daniel Johnston." Linkous and someone else organized it.

  • @thesachincroker virginia. moved to los angeles later, and died in Knoxville, Tenn. where i live.

  • @thecyanidecrash Its beautiful

  • excuse me i think there is something in my eye

  • this crushes me everytime...

  • I just realized I'll never see Sparklehorse live.... R.I.P.

  • goodbye Mark RIP

  • @StompBoxAddict Hi there, i'm sorry for the late reply and you've probably found something by now but yes, shocking and sad.

  • RIP

  • I was so shocked to learn that he took his own life. I cried a little, i'm a huge fan. R.I.P Mark.

  • for the past few days, my complete outlook on life has change and the awful reminder that things happen unexpectedly, mark in my opinion in a music scene filled with consumerism and greed , was one of the few musical artists of the past 15 or so years who actually mattered and could actually change people with his surreal lyrics and melancholy tones, music with such beauty and intimacy and passion that should be taught in schools, although we've never met i feel I've lot a great friend r.i.p

  • @MrBatty132 You do know this is a cover.... Hope I didn't shatter you.

  • @GHOSTntheMACHINE

    He's talking about Daniel Johnston...

He's talking about the man wrote the lyrics,

...so... he obviously knows it's acover...

    Hope I didn't shatter you. : )

  • @MrBatty132 These are not Mark Coyne's lyrics or music. They are the, in my opinion, much more important to music history, Daniel Johnston's.

  • oh, and this is a great cover of johnston's "go."

  • thanks for sharing your lyrical creativity with us, linkous. you're gone, but you're definitely not forgotten. R.I.P.

  • @yourdogsmusic (you mean daniel johnston's lyrical creativity)

  • how much more gorgeousness am i going to uncover about Mark??? how many more tears can i shed? the more i follow Mark's inspirations, the richer my life is...and yet, how twisted my heart still feels 4 days later...and of course, wayne can totally tap into a song like this-consider 'waiting for a superman'-such beings have truly been 'touched'!

  • what a loss. such a rare and brilliant song writer and musician.

its now even more erie listening to his music.

  • beautiful video for a beautiful song, so long sparklehorse...

  • Oh man. in the heart. .. is to be free. go on ahead. .. Rest in Peace.

  • Rest in peace, Mark. Your music has been really important in my life.

  • Give All Your Leaves To Ghosts In Trees Mark.

Hope you are flying above the northern territories of Canada ~ just as you dreamed it.

  • RIP

  • God knows how much your songs helped me throughout the years, Mark. May you rest in peace.

  • RIP Mark Linkous.

  • sasquatch gang! FTW

  • by the way.... this is a great song and great artists

  • Sparklehorse is totally influenced by daniel johnston. They have a song called cow. They are both known for high pitched/thin singing voices and minimalist, simplistic organ based songs.

  • What a fantastic song! Made me cry.

  • @seaotteR79 ya me too

  • I never realized Sparkelhorse's instrumentation sounded so similar to Daniel Johnston's, but now its unmistakeable

  • :°)

  • 3 of the most awesome bands all involved.

  • That was indescribably beautiful.

  • Sparklehorse is King.

  • Aw this is lovely. thanks.

  • i heard it on "the emergency" serial and i realy like it so much.:O

  • In this version, and despite the naive as usual (which is part of his charm of course) Daniel Johnston lyrics, simply the most beautiful love song I know.

  • And what does that have to do with the sparklehorse version? Some of dj lyrics for go actually annoy me, like the get married part. there is a naivite to his words that I am not sure if it's immature because of his issues, or a conscious fake naivite that sells. There are still half a dozen of his songs that are rather amazing; people with mental issues (==me for instance) also take to him as his mind is warped. If your admirers include Kurt cobain and sonic youth, you're probably not just a

  • 3 year old. But good luck promoting him!!

Also, this is the sparklehorse version of the song, and so an entirely different animal. Linkous' vulnerabilty is rather unique, and he got amazing sense of beauty. Now of course a super duper cool Nyer with no access to his emotions as that wouldn't be cool will disagree and probably go with bright eyes or some shit like that instead. And that's just sad as he does some of the most unique music around currently.

  • Aesthetics is such a lame thing to bitch about. Personally I love DJ's voice and writing. A lot of people like Kelly Clarkson. I don't, but who the fuck cares. Its like yelling at people that blue is better than red or some other such nonsense. Music prudes are the worst.

  • @Punkninja12 yeah prudes in general suck.

  • that's really not true. Maybe this version is more 'listenable' because of higher production values, etc. But that shows the substance of the original song.

Those who are able to overlook the polish - or lack of - will find Daniel Johnston's music quite compelling.

  • It's the raw musical moments that make DJ what he was. production was secondary. It was about the art, the moment, the emotion, and the music.

Far too often....the TRUE musical talents and geniuses are overlooked and too often gone unnoticed but by a few.

  • I don't fully agree with you, but this is the first time I've heard this song or seen this video. (sshhhh.)

I think you're really freakin funny though and it seems you've really hit the nail on the head. Really, I'm trying to be candid, not a smart ass, if it comes off that way.

  • just because you're not a DJ fan don't hate on someone who was driven to insanity by their own originality - which was what Daniel was, original.

  • ER! Ray and Neela scene! Haha that's all I have to say, but yeah, this song almost made me cry. It's haunting.

  • hahaha Same here...the Haunted episode is the first thing that comes to my mind with this song...btw Great song!

  • Who sings the beggining bit - until wayne? does anyone know?

  • Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse

  • thanks

  • dude...listened to this while stoned...the fucking deep repeating voice made me flip the fuck out.

  • love it!!!!

  • cool version, tho i would have preferred a instrumental section from the flaming lips.

this genre is called neo-progressive rock, right?

  • This song was on the movie, the saquatch gang.

  • This was so nice on ER, i had to find it. hopefully iTunes will catch up

  • In case anyone is interested, I just actually found this on Limewire, after a LOT of searching. It's labeled "Sparklehorse & The Flaming Lips - Go (Daniel Johnston Cover).mp3"

I searched by the album "Discovered Covered."

  • "That's just the way it should be To understand and be understood is to be free" "Well life's a bowl of cherries You can have as many as you can carry Someone once said life's like a cow But I don't know how that applies So here we are all on this planet Just taking everything for granted If you think you've caught on to something Don't let it go"
  • thanks so much tigerfrost and lizzybarnard! that really helped, i really appreciate it. this song makes me so happy and relaxed. thanks again!

  • I love Reela too, they should be together!

This song is awesome, so moving I agree. If you are looking to download it, try Frostwire and typing in Discovered Covered into the album name. Thats how I found it.

Took me a long time to find but I loved this song so much - thought I'd share how I got it with others!

  • if you really want an mp3, download this with Youtube Downloader and then run AudioExtract on the video file, and it'll come out with the song, if anyone does this, post a link

  • freaking love this song. its so gorgeous and i am truly moved by it. i 1st heard it on ER and it made me wanna cry when ray leaves neela and that look in the end on neelas face when she is crying, made me cry. i looked for this song on limewire, and i could not find it im so upset. at least i can listen to this song here...ugghhh i wish it was in limewire!

  • So moving!

  • My google fu is strong and this took me an hour to find. That means it's damn near impossible. This is exactly what I wanted to find. If I can't find it legally, I'll stream this for hours.

The video is beautiful, and the video heartbreaking. Thank you!

As for E.R. ... if this is all we get, it's something. Ray and Neela break my heart. Their goodbye was so tender. I want more, but if I can't have it, this works. They're at peace.

  • Just heard this song for the first time....was on E.R. tonight. Beautiful

  • Me too<3 I cried. It was so bittersweet. I missed Ray so much :'(<33333

  • Me, too! I watch the Ray and Neela ending scene over and over and was struck by this song.

  • Ditto. I love them SO much<3

  • beautiful

  • thats where i heard this song! i love the sasquatch dumpling gang!

  • i've just seen a good movie with this song at the end of the movie. the sasquatch dumpling gang. check it out.

  • i cannot find this on limewire & it's killing me!!

  • hahaha lol I have exactly the same probem, and I was saying this to myself while I was watching the video for the 10000 times here

  • this is one of my favorite videos. so beautiful and captures the botanical gardens so well.

  • background piano just like john lennon's "imagine" ? ~

  • Sparklehorse rule ! Daniel Johnston forever ~

  • LSD ~

  • The flaming lips are awesome

  • Is this an official music video or a homemade thing? It looks pretty amateur. Great song though.. I love it.

  • I don't know... On the one hand, I doubt they would bother making an official video for just one song on the whole big album that this came off of, and even if they did, why this one?

But on the other hand, it doesn't look that amateur to me, and if it is then it's very well made.

  • Beautil beautil version...:_)

  • This song is fucking awesome anyway, but adding the flaming lips & sparklehorse to it just made it worse, I mean way fucking better!

  • excelente cancion.

    es hermosa.

    gracias por el video!
