It's funny-when I was about ten or 11 (circa 94-95) I saw this movie and creeped out infinitely-I couldn't understand why. I let my friend from the neighborhood borrow the tape-and he said the same thing. We watched it together and came to the same conclusion: the movie was disturbing, but we didn't know why.
Now, I'm older and I'm watching this for the first time in years with the back story in mind. For most of the movie I'm going "OH MY FUCKING GOD!" It makes me cringe.
@Slumminbum creeped me out too. Maybe it's coz the older 2 boys were acting, but the youngest one wasn't entirely acting, and you can sense that by watching it. The actor was being traumatized as much as the character in the story.

BTW there have been rumors that Director: Michael Bay is going to remake this movie. I hope he doesn't, plus I wonder where they filmed this at on IMDB it says filming locations: California,USA but on some website it said that Salva filmed it up in Nothern Santa Cruz. I think this film was ok though it recived 8/10 from film critics.

Good movie, but the director is a damn pedophile. So, this is the way to watch the movie: for free, so Salva doesn't get a dime out of it.

Morning scene takes on new meaning once you know what happened. I mean... teenage boy walks through house in drawers, interrupts another boy masturbating (and the point is belabored, him saying *again later* not to just barge in, when realistically he'd want it forgotten), and boy #3, youngest of all, gets out of bed naked. Aw common, there's nothing wrong with clowns. They're funny as hell. The only thing funnier than a clown is people with coulrophobia (fear of clowns) and their over-exagerated reations just to seeing them, even if the clowns are doing something kind or goofy (you know, INNOCENT things). 98% of those people have never encountered a clown that acted against them, yet they accuse all clowns of being bad. Except for one small problem: Joker isn't a clown. He doesn't pass out balloon animals and throw pies at people or spray them with seltzer water. Or juggle or cartwheel.
