  • cool, i like the use of the platoon soundtrack

  • you wernt there man

  • wrong camo? you guys slay me.......... EVERYONE in the video is wearing tigers, 2 ARVN sets, JWS, and a set of Golden Tadpole...... to be exact, For the record ERDL was extensively worn as well and is well documented in 100's of images..........

  • They are wearing ERDL camo. Never....maybe rarely seen that. Mostly tigerstripes.

  • @FloridaLRRPs Never? Rarely Seen? The Army started issuing this camo to its troops in Vietnam in 1968, and soon after in 1969 the Marine Corps did the same. Granted it wasnt as wide spread as the poplin green jungle fatigues, but I would say by late 1968 you were more likely to see ERDL than tiger stripe.

  • nice, nice and raw, looked good

  • Very good video,

    grat

  • I cant really tell (the pictures quite blurry) but it looks like they aren't wearing the right type of camouflage.

  • Beautiful headshot. I love it.

  • what does LLRP stand for?

  • Long

    Range

    Recon

    Patrol

  • Actually it stands for:

    Long

    Range

    Reconnaissance

    Patrol

  • @hedge83 Recon=Reconnaissance. Although that is the official term, it is often referred to as recon. No need to nitpick

  • my fault,i didn't mean to correct in a bad way :-)

    Peace

  • holy sht... that was amazing...

  • wow 3 years after making this snippet to test a video editing/ special effects software program with some interesting content we shot and people still don't get that this ISN'T a historical documentary on NAM LRRP's..........it was a test sample! RELAX and enjoy it for what it is

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is awesome!!!

The helicopter adds ambience & urgency to the situation, it is a geat addition to the soundtrack of this film re-enactment

  • I think it was pretty cool! but of course you can't please everyone.

  • i dont get why would the chopper come rolling in when it was all quiet and it just suddenly have a firefight. it seems like chopper have some teleportion ability when theres ambush going on =)..

  • dat was sick

  • it was good...but you made some mistakes.

  • flawless dude

  • I was a LRRP AFO in the 173D Airborne. We avoided grass and open areas. Grass is not cover, it is half assed conealment, and being out in the open was to us like saying, "Hey! I'm over here! Shoot me first!" I did two tours. I did too much, I Saw too much.

I began with C 2/503D, then was transferred to the "No Deros Alpha, A 2/503D" for seven months of terror before being sent to Battalion Recon for LRRP duty. There's no excitement like that.

  • @vector19X thanks for your service man.....1/187 leader rakkasan here

  • @vector19X thank you for you service

  • @vector19X Thank you for serving our country, and welcome home

  • @vector19X hello sir. iam dutch but recently heard of lrrp s and am very impressed just wanna say tho were not from the same country''s thanks and alot of respect to you sir!

  • @vector19X Battalion Recon? I'm guessing Marines. Thanks for serving.

  • @vector19X man i know what your saying i was in the marines (scout sniper so i didnt see that much action) but in afghanistan did you know a cpl. dunn thats my dad and when he described the war to me when i first joined it didnt sound pretty. when i got back i found out my best friend had died in an explosion i was depressed for a long time but when i see vets like you it makes me feel happy that im not the only one who lost friends. thank you very much for serving

  • i thought it was going to be an airsoft video then i see some guy getting shot i was like oh shit

  • it is airsoft..

  • FUCKING FLAWLESS! The reflexes and twitches from the guy who was shot were absolutly perfect!

  • the lrrps avoided open terrain at all cost. they were long range recon and not a fighting force.

  • thats was great

  • u all like that stuff? go to the local bookstore and look up gary linderers books...he a former lrrp and has all kinds of books filled with story about patrols

  • I have all his books and I totally agree with you those are some great day by day accounts of the lives of the grat vietnam heores.

  • yeah some crazy stuff in those stories.....the one where the lightning sets off the claymores and fukes up the whole squad was insane

  • how about the one where they found an entire lrrp team executed with bullets to the back of the head.

  • Comment removed

  • I wouldn't so that. It's never a good idea to press a Vet about something he doesn't want to talk about. No, he's no gonna go Rambo on your ass, but it's incredibly emptional for them. How do I know, after interviewing several WW2 vets (including both my grandfathers) about subjects they DID want to talk about, I realized they were leaving some parts out, for a reason most of us won't ever understand.

  • Haha, you guys chillax on the debates, this was really awesome!

  • holy shit that was awesome

  • badass

  • ill admit, this was actually pretty sick

  • airsofttanker - I realize that u were told or u tead, that lrrps r trained to charge the enemy. What u hear and read r not always true. Example - Marines are superior, marines are voluteers. Not always. In 1967 while lined up in the hallway in underwear in the Atlanta Ponce de Leon induction center for the ARMY, a Marine came in, walked down the line, picked every 3rd boy to be 'voluteered' into the Marines. Learn to believe the been there, done that, over the books and bullshitters.

  • that was kickass

  • forgot all the h8ters man good job

  • Good, really good. Others have probably mentioned this, but - a lrrp really tries hard to avoid walking into a clearing like that -and - even a lrrp hits the ground fast in a close in firefight. But really you have a great video, I love it.

  • actually they were trained to charge.

this is because the VC RPKs would be aimed only a few inches above the ground

  • The RPK is a light machine gun - does not use belt ammo as does the US M60. Uses a 40 round magazine or a 75 round drum. I have had these shoot at me in the past. Ok your wording is misleading - I know of no one trained to 'charge'. You r trained to exit the 'kill zone'. I recall only 1 instance (ohter than a John Wayne movie) that I ever saw anyone 'charge' into the direction of an ambush. They did, by the way, die.

  • usaly these are gay but that was pretty bad ass

  • haha that was tight!

  • great video.

  • i like the music from platoon at the beginning, good video too

  • wow that just made recon look like shit. walk right out in the freaking opening and stand stright up. good job! i know the vid was just for effect but it could have been done and a different angle. one where recon doesnt look like a bunch of AMATURES!

  • Where dis the random helicopter come from??? kinda spoilt it lots

  • nice editing

  • i wanna kno how they made those graphics of the guys being shot up... that was a nice touch... actually looked like he got shot

  • sooo cool. haha

  • some guys trying to make it like this is his video. watch?v=8pwIgNV_aVQ this is it

  • that was AWESOME

  • at 00:20!! dam dat is the best part ever! i wish u guys make some more!

  • wow......at first its a trailer for bfv!...dats awesome!

  • battlefield vietnam is the greatest game ever

  • lol platoon eerie music

  • good uniforms

  • OMG after effects! : D

  • dude it looks like it would be in a movie

  • thats gay because lrrps didnt usually walk into patrols, since the gooks never really saw them.. thumbs down

  • Its a video man And Who cares enjoy the vid.

Reenacting they try there best so Deal.

  • how about you make a better video, and if you do then I'll give this a 1/5 but for now its 5/5 imo

  • Awsome. But a bit blurry.

  • I just love the L.R.R.P.'s, great warriors.

  • Nice work.

  • Nice effects! :D

  • What program have used to ascend the video?

  • Wow wasnt expecting that, 5 stars!

  • Nice! Ive finally learnt how to make these effects!

  • what programme and how?

  • You can do this with Fxhome easily

  • were do i get that

  • Wow!

    Ecellent video indeed!

I loved the effects, the black smoke was a bit much...but hey, that's worked for me!

  • great video!

loved the effects except for the smoke (seemed like black powder rifles not M16's)

  • excellent video m8 5*

  • lrrps stepped toe first to lessen the sound of their walking in enemy territory. could feel where your feet were going. was not uncommon for them to only move 1,000-2,000 meters or less in 1 day

  • well done!

  • Incredible video mate!

    Best i've seen recently!

One tip, the smoke was kinda overdone, but the headshot was PERFECT :D

  • That was fucken awesome..great job!!

  • BOOM! HEADSHOT!

  • THAT WAS SICK. im planning to do somthing wit my friends for his little brother so he wont fail a nother class. U know, the gay final projects

  • This footage the result of our TESTING of a new effects program: after-effects. We have many LRRP friends including author Sgt Kenn Miller and our respect for ALL LRRP's is at the utmost. While this encounter is a rare turn of events, it was possible. However, it seems missed that immediately the remaining 4 members of the team responded by assaulting into the ambush[textbook] the TL tries to pull his wounded man out of harms way at great cost, showing the dedication the men had for each other.

  • First of all Thanks for the input, it helps a little. With a LRRP team of 4 to 6 men and with no support on station we did not Assault an ambush with the textbook response. We withdrew laying down fire and tossing grenades, picking up our wounded and dead if any and getting out of the kill zone.

  • LOL this guy sure hates LRRP

  • this is a really pathetic video and i kinda find it offensive. my dad was a LRRP in vietnam and he kicked ass. next time try to find something that is equal for both sides instead of basically saying that LRRPs in vietnam sucked.

  • WOW, ignorance. So your saying your dad is superman? Soliders die no matter the Unit or training. Grow up

  • did i say that? no i didnt. all im saying is that dying isnt the only thing we did back there.

  • THEY did back there , you haven't been there

  • Boy, if that was real the LRRP concept would not have lasted very long. The Detachment I served with lost two men in the nine months I was with them. We also had two WIAs during that time. More times than not the VC and NVAs walked into our hide positions and we always gave them a very warm welcome.

  • that was sick. haha 5 stars.

  • the fire of guns look like too fake, anyway exellent job. ;)

  • holy shit that was top caulity like something out of a movie very realistic cept for the fatty muzzle flashes but it only added to the suspence. haha like someone said earlier I liked the sounds from Platoon at the beginning but that was one badass re-enactment gotta give you guys cred

  • Wow! that was awesome! i came up on this video thinking it was going to be a small arsoft battle. Boy was i wrong lol. I almost crapped my pants when the first guy took the 2 hits. Great job man. i agree with adamkofron47, but i also believe that the extra beefy muzzle flashes made the video that much mmore intense. AWESOME!

  • First guy took 3 two to the chest one in the head like they teach you in the military. So they cant get back up.

  • Umm, maybe watch that again, it's two in the upper torso, one in his face. :)

  • Correction, looks more like the three shots climbed up his tits into his mouth.

  • Wow! that was awesome! i came up on this video thinking it was going to be a small arsoft battle. Boy was i wrong lol. I almost crapped my pants when the first guy took the 2 hits. Great job man. i agree with adamkofron47, but i also believe that the extra beefy muzzle flashes made the video that much mmore intense. AWESOME!

  • 5/5 good job

  • That was quite well done!

  • hoooooooooooly jezus titty fucking christ !!! that was AWSOME !!! I realy wat to see new war movie's of Vietnam or World War 2

  • yeah i guess it Was pretty awesome, theirs no denying that

  • Reenactor to reenactor that was awesome, great sfx and movements.

  • holy fuck guys, this was awesome! btw. nice equipment=)

  • Awesome action, poor LRRP's being ambushed arrrgghhh!

  • HOLY SHIT LOL THAT WAS AWESOME! the muzzle flashes and smoke were a bit too beefy from the M16 tho in my opinion

  • this isnt correct, lrrps sometimes had extremely high kill ratios, sometimes as high as 400 enemy kills for every 1 lrrp

  • ah come on give him credit for the special effects at least...

  • Exactly, but still it was pretty neat!

  • I understand LRRP was good, but 400 enemy kills for 1 LRRP?? I think you are confusing with the movie Rambo 2... :P

  • no dude that's pretty accurate. i know it sound a little bit out there, but its true. they accounted for 10,000 enemy kills. they were extremely effective, and well trained soldiers.

  • no he got confused with the australian SASR , who had a charlie kill to friendly death ratio of 200:1. And I'm not one to boast but that's a damm sight better then most of the US special teams operating in the vietnam war at that time.

  • that was really good, keep up the good work.

  • im trying to download adobe after effect and try to attempt a simliar video

  • good for a reenactment

  • hey that tune in the beginning was from platoon i think

  • omg think of wat cnn or some far off enemy country could do with that tec. in the future...they could make fake wars and turn the whole world into turmoil...scarry

  • I'm pretty sure that was a movie...

  • i need airsoft googles >.<

    anyone recommend anything?

  • good, but i thought the muzzle flashes were too exagerated, not synced with the shots and a little rough

  • Wow what did you use to edit that was brilliant

  • fuck is this real man or a make up fake 1?

  • AWESOME!

  • that was tite man make another vid

  • holy smokes! that was really good looking. great job!

  • AMAZING, no medic.. morgue... that WAS BLOODY BRILLIANT! A++

  • It was awsome but where is the bloood?

  • what kind of software did you use man????

  • cool

  • n1n1n1n1nn1n1 5;)

  • vera niice

  • DAM those were amazing effects

  • nicely done

  • you should make a whole movie and post it in sections

  • yo that was sick what software did you use to make this

  • well those guys need a medic

  • very nice, coulda been longer though

  • AWESOME!!!

  • I love this video. My only observation is I dont know if they would come out of the tree line into an open clearing for extraction until the hueys were overhead. You open yourself up for heavy fire. Still very well done. By far the best vietnam special forces re-enactment video on youtube, hands down.

  • i agree with triple2111, u should work for hollywood.

    i love the muzzle flash

  • Cool Video - I'm collecting all Living History Videos, take a look for more! Thanks Skirmish Magazine, The Living History Magazine

  • nice!!!

  • fxnawwsme

  • well, if you stand up in the middle of a clearing, you'll probably get shot, duh.

  • What choice do you have, though? The position is undefensible. Atleast the other soldiers laid down a base of fire when the shooting started.

  • lol no shit

  • C0o0o0o0o0o0ol!

  • Send more!!!!

  • It seems so real!!! My God!!!

  • We need more!
