Banjerman- I do see the flying eagle now that you say that...It looked like "mike" on the head stock and I just assumed but I cant see the head stock that well thanks for pointing this out he is a super picker and singer way underrated!!!
@billiegrass Actually this banjo in this video is Mikes Old RB-3, See the Double Cut Peghead and the Flying Eage inlay. The other banjo that mike built has a odd Inlay Pattern and a Fiddle Cut Peghead, its a awsome Five as well.
Mike still has that same banjo as of today, I don't know what exactly what it is, but I know his father bought it for him in a pawn shop, it was only for about fifteen dollars, but Mike modified it and made it sound like a killer, and I also know at the top of the head stock it says "Mike" so iono what kinda banjo it is, I will ask him next time I see him.
As good as this is, and Harley and Mike are knocking it out of the park, when brother Greg Allen joined the band and that third part came in...GOOD GOD, possibly the best version of Little Maggie that ever was or will ever be!
you should see the new one he is building now, its gonna have some snap!!!!!!

It was a tenor banjo of course as they didn't make five's then.

The banjo is a 1905. Mike and Wendy miller made the neck.

That banjo sure "snaps". Is this the same Mike Lilly who used to play with Larry Sparks in the early days? PS: Mike sure is a good singer too.

Man...I have been waiting for some Lilly and Allen vids. Saw them at Doyle Lawson's festival in Denton in the 80's. They had a great show.
