And I am NOT confusing the lyric with music. I'm very clearly saying a) SaNa's Sufi repertoire is pathetic. They mock the poetry they sing. b) Their music merely perpetuates useless taanbaazi which makes thye whole spiritual experience infructuous. c) Their understanding of classical music betrays a lack of 'badhat' - it is mere adornment

Satyasheelrawal U can't compare 2 singers of different styles.Ust Fahim Dagar was a Dhrupad singers whereas Ust Salamat Ali Khan & Ust Nazakat Ali Khan were Khayal singers.U started off with a decent list.Aftr no 3,u fell short of names so u just added the names of artists you've recently heard of.U are no one to judge their gayaki.The other artists which you mentioned can render dry taans.I would appreciate if u upload ur music & let us know wht quality of taans u can present

I will not give SaNa bros PASS MARKS for this. Very poorly sung Kafi (they call it Kafi - the question is which one of Ghulam Farid's Kafi is this?) - no feel and oodles of useless vocal jugglery. Ghulam Farid would cringe at the thought of his work being visited by such insensitivity and needless taanbaazi.

I do not share your enthusiasm about SANA brothers' singing. They do not know how to structure a raag. Un-mimicable is an apt word. But they are not inimitable. I can cite 10 better singers.

Do not mix the two Farids - Baba Farid who was an early 13th c Sufi poet and never wrote a single Kafi - and the late 18th c Ghulam Farid who wrote Kafis in Seraiki. This one here has nothing whatsoever to do with Baba Farid. The Ali brothers have quiote insensitively picked up lines from various Kafis of Ghulam Farid and destroyed the spirit of sufi poetry limb by limb. MOST USELESS SINGING - unnecessary desire to show off, needlessly difficult taanbaazi, little roohdaari. Overall blasphemous!!
