I'm a total beginer when it comes to using Blender, but i tried to follow this tutorial as described on the blender's website, and got pretty much everything right, but when it came to rendering the final gingerbread man, only the plane he was standing on showed up in the final render, no lights and no gingerbread man, i wonder what i'm doing wrong??

make sure its all highlited use A to high light all vertices

You have to remain in edit mode. If you're in object mode when making the head, then it makes an entire new object, which you don't want. You want the head to be part of the same object as the body, so the subsurf will affect everything.

make sure you have the box in the middle all hilited by pressing A in the 3d window box and is your computer fast because im working on a DUAL CORE so my computer moves pretty well

I removed blender, found it too difficult to use, but i looked at thye other program you used called Pivot, i really like that one because its simple to use and with blender, Its made for really realistic images and videos and stuff
