  • Have you ever tried using a panini or French baguette instead of toast mmmmm really nice

  • Betty I have been using slow cooker for years.

you don't need to tenderize meant that is cooked in slow cooker.

Many years ago I used that tenderizer it is mostly salt.

  • What a tease! I thought those were strawberries! lol

  • @ThePixieSprinkles Sorry! I should have made a little fruit dessert of chocolate-dipped strawberries to go with the meal!

    --Betty :)

  • good vid

  • @EasyRecipesHQ Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Ms. Betty--my 8-year-old son is obsessed with watching your videos--I caught him this morning watching this particular one and when it was over, he looked at me pleadingly and asked me to make this dish. You're awesome!

  • @moovlvrtew Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • will you make me dinner betty ;lol

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmm! My eyes went wide when you served it up! :)

  • Thanks, urm which part of chicken would u recommend?

  • @missmickery For my family, they would want chicken breasts. But any part would work.

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, can I make this with chicken instead?

  • @missmickery Yes, you can use this same method for chicken.

    --Betty :)

  • take form of!! SANDWICH!

  • marry me. lol.

  • Looks really good but messy, lol. Not sure I could get my 4 year old to eat it. He's really picky the last several months.

  • Om nom nom nom nom

  • im from australia and i don't believe that we sell tenderizer... could you just bash the meat with a meat clever or tenderiser?

    or

Could you please tell me the ingredients in the tenderiser?

  • @jawbraeka Yes, you can use a meat mallet and pound the meat, and that will work well! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen i pound my meat quite often

  • @bettyskitchen i pound my meat every saturday night

  • Thats what she said!

  • @jmgarc7 Yes, that's what she said!

    --Betty :)

  • @jawbraeka You don't need a tenderizer. Want to know how to make the best drip beef you've ever tasted? Set oven to 550 degrees. Salt and pepper a brisket or any type beef roast, place in roast pan or cake pan. Cook at very high temp about 25 minutes then turn to the other side and cook 25 mins more. Then, take out and pour about 2 cups of water over, cover tight with foil and bake at 300 degrees for 3 hours. Add 2 tbs flour to drippings and cook for gravy. The best ever.

  • @Bombeni Thanks for that.

  • oh my goodness... i cannot tell u how delicious this looks! lol. couple questions, though. when cooking the meat in the slow cooker, did u add any water? also, u said it was done after 8 hours, but u left it for a couple more hours until u were ready for dinner. did u leave the cooker on low during those 2 hours, or did u turn it off? thanks for another great vid, betty! =)

  • @JustNess78 Hi! I did not add any water; the meat produces the stock that can be used for gravy, and I don't like it watered down. I did turn off the crock pot while I was letting the roast wait for me to be ready for it!

    --Betty :)

  • Hey sexy...can I come over for dinner some time weeeeeeee ?

  • Looks great Betty. Can you tell me how you make the gravy from the leftover juices??

  • @flyboymd82 I pour off the fat, and add cornstarch and water (mixed together), then heat until bubbly and done. You can see the full recipe by clicking "More Info."

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks!

  • It doesn't look like you ever eat the Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches. Your hawt!

  • @infectedcalf Yes, I eat well--I just don't overeat! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @infectedcalf Did you just say she is hot?!

  • @infectedcalf lol

  • Betty, this recipe looks absoluetly delicious! I only had one question: what did you add to the beef stock to make the gravy? Thank you! :)

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I added cornstarch and water to make the gravy.

    --Betty :)

  • Food of the gods!

  • It really is a hit with most people! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty, looks like an amazing winter meal! Going to try make this tonight!

  • It is great on a wintry day (which we are still having in KY!). Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I cook everything in the Crock Pot, a whole chicken, soups, I especially like soups -- I am on a tight budget. Great video.

  • That's great! I have a few crock pot recipes listed, and many of the others can be adapted to the crock pot! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, Now that I think about it, it makes sense not to add water or liquid. We roast our beef without water in our ovens...and only use liquid for something like a potroast. Thanks for the great tip. It looks delicious!

  • Thank you! I think adding water would be okay, but I like to get pure roast beef stock for the gravy, not something that is watered down!

    --Betty :)

  • I'm amazed you didn't use any liquid. I'd be surprised that the meat did not burn or the pot did not crack. Good tip.

  • Hi! This may sound crazy to you, but we *never* added any liquid to our crock pot roasts as I was growing up--so I never have done that. I just turn it to low and let it cook leisurely all day, and it releases its own juices and makes wonderful gravy! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I never add water to my crock pot, especially if you add any veggies, because they release water.

  • That's the way I've always considered it--and I've never needed extra water.

    --Betty :)

  • When I try to toast bread for a sandwich, often it seems too dry, what can I do about that?

  • I assume you are using a toaster. I would just let it toast for a little bit, and then pop it up. If i's not toasted enough, try a little longer. You can also toast in the oven--make it quick to keep it soft, and be sure not to let it burn!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, did you do anything to the natural gravy that was left in the crockpot before pouring it over your sandwich? Thank you! I look forward to making this recipe!

  • Hi!

Yes, I made the gravy by adding cornstarch and water to the juices, after removing the excess fat. You can see a demonstration of making this gravy by searching bettyskitchen for Betty's Crock Pot Eye of Round Roast Beef with Flavorful Gravy Recipe. It's really simple and very good. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh my gosh! I think is my favorite one yet. I'm going to have to try this.

  • I hope you have a chance to try this one. Most people really like it! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I love roasting joints of meat in the slow cooker/crock pot. The joints always come out juicy and VERY tender.

My grandmother used to dip bread into the Beef juices and give us a slice when we were young, it was delicous! Just one slice each though because my grandad used to like it too.

I am grocery shopping tomorrow and I will DEFINTELY buy a Beef joint to make this meal. My family will LOVE IT!! Thankyou!

Love and hugs to you both!! X

  • Your description of your grandmother's roast beef with bread dipped in the gravy sounds wonderful! I hope this meal turns out great for you! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    Warm wishes to you!

    --Betty :)

  • looks very healthy & yummy !!!

  • A *lot* of people have like this combination! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • these flavours are really close to me. Thanks for the recipe!

    btw beet is very healthy

  • Thanks so much for your nice comment! Have a great day!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow this looks like an absolutely delicious and hearty dinner. I really do enjoy hot roast beef sandwiches but I haven't had one in a while so thanks for reminding me and for the great recipe =)

  • I think that this recipe (more than any other) has reminded people of a recipe that they have already had and enjoyed--but they don't make it regularly. It really is good and hearty! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • This is a much nicer presentation that the way the diners do it here in Chicago... they slam potatoes on the plate and bread and meat and gravy over that and throw peas over the top! Looks like a dogs dinner is what my Dad used to say :) Your crockpot turkey roast would be nicely used for this idea, as would a pork roast!

  • Yes, pork roast (or even turkey) would work great, as well! As far as the presentation, I don't like to mix foods too much. I think I would think it was like all the leftovers scraped onto one plate! Thanks for your lovely comment, Patsy!

    --Betty :)

  • Can you substitute baking soda for meat tenderizer? This pot roast looks too easy, must give it a shot.

  • No. The meat tenderizer is for seasoning and for tenderizing the meat. It contains and enzyme that breaks down the fibers of the meat, so that they are very tender. If you can't get meat tenderizer, just use salt on the roast--to your taste. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • I did buy some meat tenderizer today. There were two types, seasoned and unseasoned. I hope I bought the right type, unseasoned.

  • Yes--It may not make sense, but the unseasoned has the salt, while the seasoned has other flavorings. Thanks for verifying!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum yum, looks lovely betty. Will give it a go; looks very simple, yet delicious! Px

  • Yes, it is simple to do, and if you are in a big hurry at the end, you can use instant mashed potatoes, and an instrant gravy mix--5 min. for the potatoes, 1 min. for the gravy! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, All I have to say about this recipe is YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will definitely make this one for a chilly nights dinner.

This will definitely stick to your ribs.

    Thanks.

  • Yes, it is a hearty sandwich--and it is delicious! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This looks awesome... I have 2 quick questions... Do you put the pot roast in the pot by itself or with water or something? And how did you make the gravy from what was left over? Thx and great video...

  • After salting it (or using meat tenderizer), I put it directly in the slow cooker by itself. That's it. Cook it on low for 6 to 8 hours, depending on the size of roast. For the step-by-step gravy instructions, go to Betty's Crock Pot Eye of Round Roast Beef with Flavorful Gravy Recipe in bettyskitchen. Thanks for your comment and questions!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh cool ill check out your sight for that gravy recipe... You made it look so good im gonna have to try it... Thx for the answers and keep the videos coming... You have great recipes and im loving it...

  • I don't know how much you cook, but there is no rule that says you can't use instant mashed potatoes (5 minutes), and a packet of instant brown gravy (1 minute)--both very quick and good, so that all you have to concentrate on is getting your roast cooked in the slow cooker and sliced and then getting your toast made!

  • This is exactly how we do roast beef sandwiches at our home too except we get roast beef from the deli :) Thx ill try doing some fresh next time

  • It is very little trouble to get it hot, straight from the slow cooker. You just need to season it and put it in the crock pot early in the day! If you're rushed in putting the sandwich together, use instant mashed potatoes, and instant brown gravy mix! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum to the nth power! Thanks, Betty.

  • You are very welcome! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • YUMMMMMM

  • THANKSSSSS!

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty, can you do a pumpkin pie recipe? it's thanksgiving in canada this weekend..

  • Hi!

I plan to do a pumpkin pie, but I'm sorry that I won't be able to do it by this weekend. It will probably be during November. If you will go to the eaglebrand website, you will find a wonderful pumpkin pie that is very easy and tastes great. It never fails.

    I hope this helps!

    --Betty :)

  • Yes, you're gravy looks perfect. Will you be sharing your knowledge on how to make perfect gravy? This meal looks absolutely yummy Betty! 5ive stars!!!

  • As I mentioned in a previous comment, you can search bettyskitchen for Betty's Crockpot Eye of Round Roast Beef with Flavorful Gravy Recipe, and there will be a step-by-step guide to making roast beef gravy that is almost fat-free. Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • That looks delicious, Betty. You are looking flaming hot in this video. :-)

  • Isn't it pathetic the lengths I go to in order for someone to say that I'm *hot*! Thanks for the sweet comment, Jimmy!

    --Betty :)

  • The sandwiches look terrific Betty. I was wondering if you do anything special to make the gravy, yours looked perfectly thick and rich. Very appetizing.

  • You can see a video of me making gravy from slow cooker round roast in Betty's Crockpot Eye of Round Roast Beef with Flavorful Gravy Recipe. You can search bettyskitchen for that. It is also made in a way that is virtually fat-free!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • Hot Roast Beef Sandwich is one of my best liked recipes. I dont think there is a place in the USA that you can't find this great meal. I could not tell in the video but did you put water in the slow cooker before you put the meat in? Great stuff Betty Keep up the great work. and thank you for taking the time to share your recipes with us.

  • Hi!

No, I did not put water in the slow cooker with the meat. It just produces the meat stock as it cooks. Thanks for your question and for your great comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, this looks great! I've always loved these but don't think I have ever made them at home. Next time I make a roast, I'm going to do this.

  • We just *lov* a Hot Roast Beef Sandwich! And, it is very easy to make--or you can use your leftovers to make it! Thanks for your nice comment!
