@nimmira I'm not sure where you got that idea from. Hornpipes like all the various folk tune types of the British isles is for any of the various instruments, fiddle, whistle, accordion (push box if you like), banjo, and lots of others.
I think you are correct. The pitch is OK after the first few notes and which might have given me that impression -- and maybe my mandolin was a bit off tune also last night.
Much better this morning and thanks again for posting this nice clean version of a great song.
Good Job! Keep it up! I've been learning fiddle over the past 9 months or so and this is the latest tune my professor has me working on for fiddle/mandolin.
Great playing, sir! Thanks! I love hornpipes on the fiddle!

Nice. But i think "hornpipes" in general are made for tin whisling mainly and other blowing instruments. I love the sound of the air :)

I don't think there are any rules about it. Many people play hornpipes on fiddles and accordions.

I like your version of this song.
But what key are you playing in? It looks like the fingering for the key of D but maybe you are not in concert pitch?
I'm not sure but for some reason it is hard to pick the song up from your video.
Great tune though! Smile!

I think it was tuned okay - it's probably just my bad playing!
