He is a great guy, and a sick drummer. He is doing the drums for Sargent Avenue's first album they have coming out in January. Not to mention Noah Henson is producing it!

I noticed from your solos something that alot of drummers even great ones don't have: u can get around the set extremely fast (not just fast in the wrists/fingers but the whole arm). Is there a particular exercise u use to increase that speed?
this is good, but its more of the same, i can stand those beats within beats that these Gospel choppers do all through all the time. got nasty good at two thirty. and if its a studio session why does it sound like ass? cmon.
yeah jazz is one of the hardest styles of music, not necessarily smooth jazz, but jazz in general. If you learn to play jazz, you'll get significantly better. You'll find yourself using dynamics and accents and harder rhythms.
Practice! But to get started "the next step". Its an old video by Dave Weckl. It shows a bunch of basic patterns for developing singles and doubles between hands and feet.....lester does Alot of that stuff!...Go get it. The best way to learn from a instructional dvd is to study that thing for a year or 2. You will see improvement!
cant learn from the book. get somethin ya like on ipod/mp3, and listen carefully, take out a pair of sticks and just air drum to it, then try it out on your kit to avoid sounding bad to the whole neighborhood :)
Fo sho. He has the best timing ive ever heard. he never looses his counts. he always hits them no matter what fills he does. whether they'd be in the up beat or down beat.
Are these drums black or deep purple sparkle? I am endorsed with Risen and the kit I have was traded in by an endorsee and they are deep purple sparkle with black wood hoops. 13, 18, 24 setup.
lester wants more studio work, not only as the drummer for Stars Go Dim, but he also drums for the country singer Neal McCoy and various other jazz/blues gigs
i tuned my set to this video. i already had everything set up the way it is in this video. cymbals and everything. i got my toms to drone like his do. i tuned it to the same note too. i freakin love the way the toms sound.
Maybe to spend more time with his family. It could also be due to the fact that the other band he's in[Stars Go Dim] are stationed closer to his hometown of Gardener, KS and don't tour quite as extensively as Pillar does.
His wife is pregnant with his third child..so he decided it was a good time to stay home with the family....and while he stays home..he going to be doing studio and session work...he tried out for "David Cook"
Lester! You broke Michael's heart!

He represents drumming which one just can do after hours being in love with a kit.
MIND4eva 1 year ago
biggest reason why he's so great is because he's black lol
to be a drummer you need to either be black or a white boy with rythme lol
