And the people that arranged those songs can certainly play the same thing that he can. People that arrange and compose are a much rarer breed than people that can play the guitar really well by practising day in, day out.

it depends on what kind of music your playing, if you can play it with a pick it usually sounds better but some music is too difficult to play with a pick and some musicians have gotten to the point where their fingerpicking sounds just as good as using a pick.
