Sounds good on paper, but it has horrible performance. It really is awful as a "steadicam". You will never find any smooth Modosteady test footage. Nowhere.
The Modo Steady is the only Manfrotto product I ever regretted buying. It is a total pain to set up and gets very poor results. There is too much friction for the gimbal to ever work properly with a light camera and it cannot handle heavy cameras (eg HDR SR1). I often used a monopod as a stabiliser and it's much better. I ended up making one that rivals the performance of a Merlin. The only cheapies that (apparently) work are made by Hague in the UK.
Thanks for your input. I always like to hear from viewers who have had direct experience with the gadgets we review. Sorry you had such a bad experience... I always wondered if the ModoSteady could handle a larger camera... now we know.
Hey guys... I'm still around... we're just constantly tweaking how we do the show. There are going to be MANY more changes in the next few weeks, (announcement coming up in about a month) but hopefully I can still get out some pretty cool tech.
Thanks for watching (especially all my most loyal visitors) and stay tuned!

don't, it do a very poor job at stabilization, good as a tripod only, google it and watch some demo which this review fails to do
