in an older interview, i don`t know which year , christopher lambert said, he would like to play the "rain man" or else sometime . but he knows that he is an actor for the action and horror genre , and he knows, where his limit as an actor is. he can`t play other roles as good as action or horror . but then , he played gideon in this movie, and i think , his understanding of his ability (sorry for my bad english, i`m german ;-) ) is totally wrong : he did it great ! wonderful !

yes, someone described his character as Archie Bunker and then some. He is so great in this role.
