  • Will welcome contacts about my Grandfather Harbo's side of the story. Our son spent a year in Norway to get acquainted with relatives and the Norwegian culture and language. I have made friends now with the UK rowers and we will connect some day. Hope to hear from some of you. There are many interesting side bar stories. Bette Horton, Nashville, Tennessee:

  • Love the song! Gary from Hogeye Navvy does a great rendition of this song.

  • Very nice!!!

  • Indianapolis-based band Hogeye Navvy does a brilliant rendition of this and always give Jerry credit. Astounding that the 114-year record has finally been broken, but also amazing that it took four men to do what two did in 1896. Also, the 4 stopped in St. Mary's. "Most men would have stopped to bask in the glory, after having been sunbeaten, capsized, and starved, but they were both back in the boat the next morning, and in less than a week, they arrived at Le Havre..." That's dedication.

  • Straight to my heart:) Both the song, and the story:))

  • Nice song about a Norwegian achievement

  • @Kjellern150

  • Jerry wrote this song. A lot of people perform it but may not know to give him credit for it. A very moving work.
