Sounds awsome love your setup.. And you right about the Bass drum being just right. Running a small sub along with my studio monitors and the kick has a perfect thump without being too loud in the higher frequencies.
@machew100 As much as as I appreciate your 'helpful hint'. The level of the bass drum or any other part of the drum kit when it comes to mixing is 100% preference. I like my kick drums loud and punchy (in rock/metal) as they are an integral part of the kit/song. I have studio monitors and I know exactly how loud the kick is! I like it where it is :)
Did you do any eq'ing on the drums at all? The bass drum sounds perfect for this style, as do the toms and snare. Really good job mate and good playing too.
just a suggestion (although it makes more of a difference in a live setting rather than recording) you should put your overhead mics closer to your cymbals to reduce the amount of bleeding. but great video!
@xBlackPaladinx i would love to make loads more but the logistics of playing in my house are very limited, I'm reduced to an electric kit and that doesn't sound as sexy as the real thing!
Hey man. I'm really impressed. Drumming is dead on. I had no idea the iPhone was capable of recording such high quality video. The drum mix is awesome too.
Sick video. The mics sound super super good minus the reverb chamber your playing in lol. What kind of interface or preamps did you use in this video?
@bringbackhipv thanks! I use the Presonus Firestudio Project with 8 built in preamps, going into Logic Pro (at the time 8) I now have 9! Then when it came to mixing, simple EQ and compression was used
@KISSfest05 hey dude, I recorded the mics into Logic Pro, whilst filming myself with my iPhone, Then with iMovie I synced the Logic Pro audio file with the movie! Simple!
Yeah I had a percussion plus set when I started and I got yamaha stage customs from my friends dad, who bought them for one of his students, but the students dad bought him the same set for a ton more expensive, do he just had this kit sitting around and I got it for $300!! Cymbals I got are, 15 inch zildjian pitch black hi-hats, a 22 inch pitch black ride, 15 inch sabian b8 crash, and an 18 inch zildjian ZBT crash ride, and I really want some zildjian z3's or k custom hybrids...or really any h
holy crap dude, what set is that! i love the bass drum and your cymbals sound absolutely amazing, all of your kit is perfect, and you did such a great job with this cover
@LTY124 they are indeed all K custom hybrids :) the great sound is due to the mics, and the acoustics of the room, the kit itself is pretty crappy (percussion performance lol), i use a joey jordison pearl snare
Dude this is sick. All the mics sound amazing, you should definatley do some more covers or just drum videos with these mics because your a good drummer and your kit sounds great especially your cymblas. Please put up some more videos in the future
hey dude good cover. was maybe gonna buy this mic kit. you still happy with it?

just a helpful hint the bass drum is too loud. more neutral/accurate headphones would probably help in hearing that.

@Stephanlovesmusic the kick overpowers every other piece of the kit. I'd say that's for all intents and purposes imbalanced.
