  • I remember this from SKY program Countdown by Pat Sharp.

  • Probably one of the greatest piano intros of all time. Love this song!!

  • Reminds me of Phil Kennedy on the Superstation across many commercial stations in the late 90's

Should have done so much better in UK chartwise - never understand why it didnt get to at least top20

  • great video and great sounding music. got the cassette, can't find it on i tunes

  • I loved this song back in the late 80's still got it and the album, happy happy songs !

  • I remember first time I heard it on the radio, I thought she was singing "In Serbia's a lot of fun".

  • Great piano intro :)

  • Incredible piano. Just glad I remembered this song because I never hear it anyplace anymore other than You Tube.

  • love it

  • Camilla Griehse= Black

  • The piano intro and interlude are brilliant.

  • Superb track. Well before its time though?? Truly 1980s!!. Lyrics still give us laugh!! Camilla Griehsel even laughs at what shes singing about. The piano solo great. Glad I found it again .

Nice memories of good summers in the 1980s.

  • I just love this song... just typical 80's music.... love it...!!!!

  • They hit #37 in Billboard, 5-20-89. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • KCR 106.7 - a tiny and now defunct radio station for Knowsley in Merseyside - used to play this quite often when it first launched in 2001.

  • @ETP1 Es una canción maravillosa que me recuerda mis dulces 19 todo lo bueno de aquella epoca. Gracias por compartirla.

  • Great track brilliant piano work. There must be steam coming off those fingers. It's one of those songs you can imagine a morning radio show starting up with, or TV show with the sun coming up etc. Very uplifting.

  • @karlosfandango38 It was used a lot in the UK in the late 80s and early 1990's for precisely that! Which was why this ditty had been in my head since i was about 6 or 7.... then I worked in a Harvester in the early 2000's, where this was played frequently (and still is!), which how I managed to finally track this song down :)

  • We play this track on Affinity Radio in Cambridge quite regulary, I believe one of just a handful of UK stations to still play this great track by One 2 Many!

  • @mattwebbradiopresent Keep playing it! Last UK station I know of that used it was TFM in Stockton - it was one of many tracks used as a theme to "Tom's Talk-In", a long defunct late night phone-in show

  • @mattwebbradiopresent Since finding out about the actual name of the song in 2001, I play it regularly... especially when on my morning commute, it's a bit of a ritual now :)

  • Wow!! Nice piano solo

    3:00 :o

  • This song is still awesome. It should be re-released so that the youth of today can enjoy it as well!!

  • @oyra123 Amen!!

  • Baywatch piano solo!

  • Brilliance.

  • still sounds fresh ! great to hear it again

  • my best year in collage ..burn the tape of that song ..more than million time ..love it

  • one of my favourite songs ever.. i have it on 45, 12' 3"cd and cd...thats how much i love it...!!!!...(just need the video)....

  • Hadde min første forelskelse til denne sangen:) kommer aldrig til og glemme den.

Det er også rett det som blir sagt av realrxn, Låta kom ut seint i 88 og levde over til 89.

  • one of the most gorgeous songs to come from the 80's

  • Are they norwegian???!!?!? :o

  • @KillanatorVids

Yes they are norwegians. Look at his torn jeans ! I used to have mine like that. It was cool then, today it looks ugly and stupid though.

  • Didn't really know this one and I am from L.A. near D.T. Really dig the eighties beat!

  • I played this song while working at an A/C station in Michigan...my boss thought it was pretty good...I loved it...went out and bought the CD...still enjoy it!

  • Awesome music, it brings such a smile.

  • I believe the single was released in late '88, and stayed in the charts over new year and into '89. It was the first single from the band's debut album. It reached no. 1 in Norway and did well in Western Europe and North America. Unfortunately the band didn't even manage to stay together long enough to complete their promotional tour, and so became a one-hit wonder. Dag became a moderately successful solo artist in Norway, Jan Gisle and Camilla each play in other, little-known bands.

  • I still remember this song after all these years. Incredible. A good one.

  • I heard this occasionally in Winter/Spring 1989 (USA), then it went away forever (except in my mind) until now....!! One of my top ten favorites of all time!! I'm so glad I have it back! Just a happy feel-good song...

  • I have the 12" for this.... still listen to it.

  • Bra låt!

Husker jeg var litt svak for vokalisten, var det Camilla hun het?

  • This was a pretty big hit in North America - I even have the 45

(which is sort of a not-so-compact CD, played on this thing - archaic, I know - called a 'record-player')

  • I've got the entire album i mp3 format. Maybe I should upload a couple of tracks...? Any requests...''?

  • Love, love, love this song! I remember this used to be on the radio when my mum drove me to school and singing it when stuck in traffic... It's a firm favourite on my iPod ;o)

  • excellent piece of euro pop. I have carried the 12" record around half the world. Pure fun and happiness.

  • such a beautiful song1 timeless1

  • This brings back good memories of my youth, i wish they would come back

  • Listen to that piano! Bruce Hornsby would be jealous of Dag's piano solo in this song.

  • Brilliance is the only word.

  • Come down town. Everyone must agree.

  • Remember when I first saw this video one Friday night on TBS Night Tracks. I listened to it on my ipod today as we a matter of fact - it's one of my staple 80s tracks still.

  • Orioles8383, those of us in Lincoln with great music taste APPLAUDE your playlist back then! :) Thank you!

  • I was surprised this song didnt do all that great here in the states. It has an incredible sound. Played it as a DJ here in Lincoln, Nebraska on 106FM. I remember playing it more than I should have and my boss was pissed at me. Oh well.....great song....great memories!!!!! Thanks ONE 2 MANY!!!

  • WTF!!! I have done this masterpiece, edited with new sound and the first 10 seconds is missing. There is no original of the video on the Youtube!

Stolen from the Evroline Channel it is!

  • @Evroline I remember the original - I complained because the beginning was from MTV! Why did the original get deleted? There were some great comments on there.

  • @mercuryvapoury My channel was deleted by youtube by some claims i dont remeber. The channel name was Evroliner, and now it is Evroline.

  • Puro POP con leves tokes d A.O.R. HI-TECH...

acia muxisimos años q no sabia nada ni escuxaba nada d estos noruegos...

Dag Kolsrud (keyboards), Camilla Griehsel (vocals) and Jan Gisle Ytterdal (guitar).

    unico disco del 88': MIRROR!!

  • A very underestimated track. Is there a chance to get "Nearly there" uploaded ?

  • Brilliance. Well done.

  • There another clip of Downtown from One 2 Many at Veoh. Can somebody post it here on youtube:

  • A fantastic track from an excellent band. Seriously underrated and I have failed to understand how it charted so badly in the UK. I would love for this song to one day get the recognition it deserves.

  • Just found this on a cd...great pop tune!

  • Or this song, another great song, can't find it on Itunes either. Please let me kow

  • Also hit #18 AC in the US. God bless!

  • Was a flop here in Canada too.Good song though

  • was a flop in canada too.good song though

  • One of my all time favorite songs from my childhood/youth time :D

  • Wonderful late-80's Euro-pop!

  • i first heard this on radio1, went out and got the 7inch and 12 inch vinyl record. unfortunately i left my wife and left the records in the house....needless to say they got removed, immaculate condition too. intro on the 12inch was awsome.

  • Tolles Lied mit grossem Pianisten. Erinnere mich gerne an jene Zeit ende der 80er Jahre.

  • This actually had 2 attempts to crack the Top 40 in the UK and it's still baffling how it failed to cruise in to our singles chart - stalling at No. 43 in early 89. It was all over independent and bbc radio in the early summer of that year and sounded great in the sunshine. Another one of those quality 80's tracks that was sadly overlooked by a significant proportion of the record-buying public!

  • Super RARE CD from 80´s

  • I had this album and it was great. why has no one uploaded none of the other trcaks on the album?

  • This is really "brilliant." The keyboard skill is fantastic! This so very much represented the late 1980's! It is the invitation to "come downtown" to so many young people who looked for a better life somewhere beyond their limitations. "We can live a life of happiness and style....."

  • She is married with Black, the singer.

  • It's really a pity that they split up right after their first album: that cd was absolutely brilliant!

  • whatever happened to camilla griehsel?

  • Comment removed

  • she has become an opera singer and married singer Black (the one that became famous with "Wonderful Life")

  • hit #37 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in Norway?

  • I think it stayed several weeks in top 10 of the charts in Norway from January 1989

  • Jan Gisle Ytterdal is my uncle : )

  • this takes me back, a bit too far back to be honest but it brought a smile to my face and thats what matters

  • aaaaah this song bring back memories, mmmmm i was about 18 that time. Great age :)

  • Camilla was incredibly sexy in her geddup..:D Completely 80's

  • OMG - I heard this as a spotty little kid sitting in my bedroom listening to Red Rose Radio in Lancashire, I think they had it as a record of the week or something - You have no idea how long I have been searching for this online!!!! Made Up to have it in my collection at last.... Even if it's just as a link,

  • @Newhaven442 NOT HARD TO GET A HOLD OF THE CD I dl'd a few years back.wasn't that great best track wore d.town, answer, anotherman(my opinion ff course)

  • One norweigan song who would fit perfect to the Baywatch series.. Remember digging this song.

  • @beawheel dl it

I did the entire album.wan't all that great. was this an 2 other songs that was cool the rest was shite.

But thats just my opinion. each to he's own

  • superba, altceva nu pot sa spun!

fresh dupa atatia ani! astea-s piese adevarate!

  • i remember gary davis championing this song years ago, happy days!

  • I love this feel good tune from the UK! Many good memories from the 80's!

  • This tune is not british.

  • I stand corrected! Cool, thanks for the correction. They are Norwegian.

  • @garyepple but the girl is swedish. :)

  • fungas uk , yeah true , wot a twat i am 4 not spotting the obvious , nice one geeze !!

  • love this tune , bin searching for it for time

  • love this tune , bin trying to work out where the video was filmed , any one know

  • @147corky

London mate - red buses/ black taxis?! :)

I think the crowd scenes like at 1:43 are filmed at Convent Garden, with the rest filmed around Traflagar Square, and St. James's Park.

  • @FungasUK

    Whoops, Covent Garden that is.

  • love this tune , bin looking for it for time

  • Comment removed

  • It is on iTunes, at least in Canada it is.

  • I absolutely love this song. I wish it were available on iTunes. Amazon only offers it in vinyl. Sigh.

  • @jwkglhhba07 it is on ITUNES. Just got it.Mint.......

  • I couldn't believe they never made another album. So many great songs from this CD: Downtown, Another Man, Man On The Run, and others. Still one of my favorite CD's of all time.

  • Found myself singing this today out of the blue. Loved the track, think I have it on vinyl somewhere. Video isnt anything spectacular, but it doesnt ruin the enjoyment of the track. Thanks for uploading

  • che splendida canzone!!!

  • Like this one!!

  • camilla is born in sweden. she is married with Colin Vearncombe (Black:"wonderful life", „Sweetest Smile

    „Everything's Coming Up Roses).

  • Soars to the very heights of pop music - should have gone Top 10 in every country - the definition of a forgotten gem.

  • I adooooooooooooooore this tune.

  • Bruce Hornsby on piano.

  • eh.. its Dag kolsrud on piano

  • hey man we know that. But it really sounds like 80s' Hornsby piano stuff - been my first impression as well :)

  • It's neither. It's Peter-John Vettese on piano.

I know coz I was there when he did it. They wanted a "Bruce Hornsby" style.

  • @tryptychUK The gentleman on the piano is band member Dag Kolsrud. He essentially disappeared off the musical map in the mid-90s. The other two members, Camilla Griehsel and Jan Gisle Ytterdal are still active. Camilla has an interesting web site, and is now primarily active in opera.

  • I am well aware that is Dag Kolsrud. However he is not the person that actually played piano on the song. Dag is just miming it for the video.

I worked for Peter and we were in the studio next door at Mayfair Studios recording the Bee Gee's.

There was also a third keyboard player, Andy Richards, who co-produced the album, and asked Peter to play the solo.

  • Im very surprised to hear this.

Dag Kolsrud was one of the best keyboard players in Norway.

  • Awesome! Love this whole neglected album.

  • Awesome tune,a forgotten gem!!!

  • Great memories i love this song.... MAX DURANFAN

  • Takk for at du har postet denne videoen!!

80 tallets musikk er best :)

    5*

  • Awesome. Got the 12" somewhere. Where can I get this digitally? Takes me back to a different time, a different girl, a different.............life!

Upbeat, cheerful, some might say cheesy, but wonderfully crafted pop music.

    Where have the years gone!?

  • how this song wasnt a hit in the uk is beyond me. fantastic tune, classic

  • well, it wasn't british, so how could it be good?

The 80's was all abot SAW, right?

  • no it wasnt british, who cares? in my opinion it was a good track. which should have been a big hit in the uk, was everywhere else in europe. some people have bad taste, but then thats there opinion isnt it?

  • I will never forget: They were in german tv without interviewer. So they have to interview theirselfs. The keyboarder ask Camila:Whats your hobbies? She answered "Riding". He asked: Horse too?

    Funny moment...

  • This must be the ultimate feel-good song. Or at least one of them!

  • Hi all you one 2 many fans. I put my copy of Mirror, their only album, on ebay if anyone's interested. Starting price is 10p but no one's bid on it yet.

  • I think I have it my old LP collection somewhere. Thx anyway.

  • One of the best songs of the 80's IMO. She looks a lot like a young Tracey Ullman. Thanks for posting!

  • @IAtodd I knew she reminded me of someone and that's who it is...Tracey Ullman!! Wow! She really does look like her!!

  • I absolutely loved this CD and all there songs. Couldn't believe they never made a second CD. Thanks for uploading.

  • Their album was superb. I got my band to cover "Hawk"! People thought it was our song!

  • she is married to colin verncombe from black ,pop group from the eighties

  • Absolutely one of the most beautiful songs, love the piano I remember buying the 12 inch vinyl of this. There was some great songs around at this time.

  • Suverän låt.....Väcker minnen från tiden

då man var ung och kär.....

    Enkel o lättlyssnad låt....

Sångerskan blev man lätt kär i..

    Härlig röst o KROPP...hehe

  • Great song, one I've not heard for ages.

  • This is a fabulous, fabulous track. It has one of the best intros you'll ever hear, and then launches into an incredibly catchy, infectious pop song that makes you want to sing along at the top of your voice. Well it does me, anyway! Fantastic stuff.

(One 2 Many released a follow-up track here in the UK called "Nearly There", which I haven't heard for 20 years. If anyone knows how I can get a copy, or see the vid, I'd love to know.)

  • I got Nearly There on 7 inch single 3 weeks ago for 25p, and saw another copy in a Charity Shop in a place called Fleetwood near Blackpool for 50p, but didn't get is as already got it, have you tried Ebay
